Whatever great or small deeds are done, for all of these, there must be patience, not just generating diligence for some perfections and some vehicles, but generating diligence for all perfections, with the great vehicle diligence that perfects the qualities of the path and fruit of all vehicles, initiating the diligence that generates all virtues or qualities. Similarly, even if one attains the samadhi of the four dhyanas and the four formless absorptions, one should not be born in the formless realm, because one cannot perfect the Buddha's teachings and ripen sentient beings in the formless realm, so one should be born in the form realm and the desire realm, especially after being born in the desire realm, one should accomplish the great task of perfecting and maturing beings. If either skillful means or wisdom is lacking, the bodhisattva will be bound, therefore, one must have the wisdom that understands all phenomena as emptiness, and the four means of gathering beings with great compassion to fully ripen sentient beings, the combination of the two is having wisdom and skillful means, like this, bodhisattvas abide in the six perfections, and practice them properly and truly. Thus, in the holy "Heap of Jewels Sutra," it says: Giving without expecting maturation, discipline that does not abide in all existences, patience without anger towards all sentient beings, diligence that completely gathers all roots of virtue, meditation unpolluted by the formless realm, and wisdom that fully ripens sentient beings with the four means of gathering beings with skillful means and fully possessing skillful means. Thus it is said. Ninth, the difference between the declining and the distinguishing qualities is: abiding in what one will decline from the six perfections, and abiding in what the qualities of the perfections will increase and improve, that is, abiding in the correct practice of the bodhisattva, the opposing factors of the six perfections will decline and decrease, and the antidotal dharmas will increase like the waxing moon, therefore, in showing the difference between its decline and increase, decline refers to if one is attached to sensual pleasures, one will not be able to give, therefore one will decline from the perfection of giving. Similarly, if subtle precepts are broken and deteriorated, one will decline from the perfection of discipline. Towards the Khenpo, Acharya, and those who possess qualities

Pride that does not bow to the three realms, and being unable to tolerate respect for oneself, thus falling away from patience; clinging to the edge of desire and decline and abiding there, thus falling away from diligence; tasting the flavor of meditation, thus falling away from the perfection of meditation; clinging to the conceptualization of material entities, thus falling away from the wisdom that does not focus on signs. Thus, these six are the causes for steadfast Bodhisattvas to fall away from the perfections. The second, the special qualities, are: those who are not attached to enjoyment, do not break their vows, have no pride, do not cling to decline, do not taste the flavor of meditation, and dwell in not conceptualizing the signs of things, for these Bodhisattvas, because they reverse from the side of falling away, it should be known as the dharma that possesses the special fortune of increasing the six perfections. Tenth, the distinction between image and reality: the six perfections fall away from reality and become merely images, such as saying one will give inner and outer things but not giving them, actually giving and then secretly taking them back, etc., making false offerings, pretending to be giving, this is just an image of the perfection of giving. Similarly, constantly engaging in the faults that should be guarded against, but pretending to keep vows in front of others; having unbearable hatred towards others in one's heart, but showing a beautiful appearance of patience, speaking gently and kindly. Similarly, although there is no constant diligence, one only engages in diligence temporarily in the midst of many people, etc., and the body dwells in a solitary place and appears peaceful, and one avoids speaking and appears peaceful, but the mind does not abide in meditation and wanders in a state of distraction. Similarly, although there is no wisdom that understands well the meaning of the Dharma of the three vehicles, one clings to words because one understands the meaning of sounds or reasoning, etc., and is skilled at composing many words about what is reasonable or unreasonable, right or wrong, etc., showing oneself to be a learned and accomplished wise person among fools, this is just an image of wisdom. Those who are separated from properly accomplishing the meaning of the six perfections are the Bodhisattvas' unreal six perfections, which are merely images.
