By destroying emptiness and meditating, one will attain unsurpassed Bodhi. The way to be liberated from the bondage of characteristics by meditating in this way is: By fully understanding the characteristics of the three natures, one will be liberated by abandoning the habitual tendencies of afflictions and cognitive obscurations that exist in the Alaya consciousness. That is, with the wisdom or primordial awareness that focuses on the suchness of all dharmas, the characteristics of the perfectly established nature are directly realized; and, by completely abandoning the grasping at the duality of grasper and grasped, or the grasping at the two selves of person and dharma, the characteristics of the completely imputed nature are directly realized; and, when the nature of the Alaya consciousness, which is connected with the body or aggregates of the bad karma of afflictions and cognitive obscurations, is directly realized without being inverted, then the dependent nature is directly realized. Wise Bodhisattvas, having thus directly realized the three natures, all the afflictive and cognitive obscurations existing in the dependent nature of the Alaya consciousness are exhausted, and they believe that this is liberation from all bonds. If the noble Hearers also have the true wisdom that destroys the characteristics of the four inversions, then what is the difference between the true wisdom of the Bodhisattvas who destroy the characteristics of grasping at the two selves? The superiority of the Bodhisattva's meditation on the signless over the Hearers' meditation on the signless is that the Bodhisattva's wisdom that focuses on suchness does not focus on the characteristics of Samsara and Nirvana as being different, because the nature of both Samsara and Nirvana, the Dharmadhatu, is originally Nirvana, so it is realized that there is no difference between the two forms of Samsara, which should be abandoned, and Nirvana, which should be attained. Therefore, Samsara itself is Nirvana. By fully knowing that all dharmas are empty and meditating, it is superior to the Hearers' meditation on the signless. As it is said in the Sutra of the Noble Inexhaustible Intellect: The Dharmadhatu and the realm of Samsara, the realm of Nirvana, the realm of sentient beings, and the realm of all dharmas are the same. Why are they the same? Because they are the same in emptiness, so they are the same. Just as it is said. The Hearers take characteristics as Samsara.

Furthermore, regarding the signless nirvana as distinct, They wish to abandon the signs of samsara, such as birth, aging, sickness, and death, which are not pacified by suffering. They wish to realize nirvana, seeing it as a state of peace without all suffering and faults. Thus, when a Bodhisattva meditates on all signs as non-different in the realm of Dharma and completes the meditation, they directly see the fully accomplished nature of emptiness, which has always existed. They also directly realize the meaning of the absence of signs of grasping and fixation, which has always been the case. Therefore, when they attain the true knowledge of the direct manifestation of existence and non-existence, whatever they think in their mind will be accomplished accordingly. Even if they think that a rain of necessities should fall from the empty sky, a rain of necessities will fall. This is called subduing conceptualization or attaining mastery. If samsara itself is by nature nirvana, why are all sentient beings not already in nirvana? In response to this objection, although the nature of samsara is nirvana, ordinary beings are obscured by the habitual obscurations of clinging to self and phenomena, which conceal the true suchness that has always been in nirvana. Therefore, the unreal dualistic appearance, the nature of samsara, universally appears, like hairs seen by someone with cataracts, or like a rope mistaken for a snake by a deluded mind. Bodhisattvas, because they do not grasp the essence of self and phenomena, eliminate the appearance of the duality of grasping and fixation, and the true suchness of non-duality universally appears, like someone with clear eyes seeing without cataracts, or like a mind that is not deluded knowing a rope as a rope. Therefore, ordinary people do not need to strive; they do not see what exists, but see what does not exist. Bodhisattvas do not need to strive; they themselves know that the meaningless signs of grasping and fixation and the meaningful suchness gradually do not appear and appear. They should know that what exists appears, and what does not exist does not appear. Such is the dependent nature, the alaya-consciousness, which is called the transformed basis. The transformed basis itself is the bondage of all signs and
