That which destroys the multitude of afflictions and attains supreme enlightenment is unmixed. Merely through diligence, placing all beings in the three enlightenments is a virtue of great significance. Diligence is perfected by wisdom, therefore it is inexhaustible in the world, it is an inexhaustible virtue. The sons of the Buddhas possess extremely many samadhis such as courageous conduct, and cultivate all aspects of the four dhyanas etc., as well as liberation, cessation, subjugation etc., is a vast virtue. Abiding in the excellent bliss of meditation, without experiencing its taste, relying on compassion to be born in the inferior desire realm, is unmixed. Merely through meditation, placing all beings in the three enlightenments is of great significance. Meditation is perfected by wisdom, therefore it is inexhaustible in the world, it is an inexhaustible virtue. The sons of the Buddhas know reality as it is, and whatever is knowable, how much there is, understanding all aspects, is a vast virtue. Not even generating strong attachment to nirvana, what need is there to mention samsara? Because all appearances of samsara and nirvana are known to be conventional like illusions, while ultimate reality is equality. This is an unmixed virtue. Merely through wisdom, placing all beings in the three enlightenments is a virtue of great significance. Wisdom does not abide in the extremes of existence and non-existence, therefore its nature is inseparable from great compassion, thus taking hold of all sentient beings, it is placed as never being exhausted in the world, it is an inexhaustible virtue that is never interrupted and pervasive. Thus, vastness, unmixedness, great significance, and inexhaustibility, these should be known as the four virtues of all, such as generosity. Again, explaining how the six perfections excel through pure virtues, and how they become supreme, and indicating this through the praise of generosity, and separately explaining the virtues of diligence, there are four aspects. Among them, the first is explained from "the seeker sees perfection" etc. to "like the rays of the sun, there is no equal." First is the praise of generosity: the seeker

That person is happy to see the giver, and happy when he sees that the giving is complete as he wishes, and unhappy when he does not see the giver and the giving is not complete, and always wishes in his heart to see the giver and to fulfill his desire to give to him. The Bodhisattva, the giver, is loving to all beings. Therefore, he is happy to see the beggar and to complete the giving, and unhappy to be separated from the two, and to see the beggar and to wish to complete the giving to him. The Bodhisattva's joy is greater than the beggar's joy. The Bodhisattva always overwhelms the three joys of the beggar. The Bodhisattva's joy in seeing the beggar is much greater than the beggar's joy in seeing the giving, and the Bodhisattva's joy in completing the giving to him is greater than the beggar's joy in receiving the giving and fulfilling his wishes. Therefore, the Bodhisattva's pure giving is especially excellent. The merit of pure morality is that the Bodhisattva, who always gives away his life, possessions, and wives without any displeasure, but with great joy, because of his compassion for all beings, how can he not protect himself from killing, taking what is not given, and sexual misconduct for his own sake? Therefore, he has the pure morality of abandoning the three unwholesome deeds of the body. The noble Bodhisattva does not care for his own body and life, is equal to all beings, is free from the five fears, and is not afraid of the king's punishment, etc. Because he has compassion for all sentient beings, he gives away all that he has. How can such a person tell a false lie to deceive and harm others? Lying is for one's own body and life, or for the sake of one's relatives, or for the sake of harming one's enemies, or for the sake of fear of kings and thieves, or for the sake of one's wives and possessions.
