After personally attaining the five supernormal cognitions, such as, the yogi travels to the realms of the ten directions in order to make offerings to Amitabha Buddha and to listen to the sacred Dharma. In this way, it is equivalent to having offered and revered Amitabha Buddha for immeasurable eons. Here, the term "immeasurable eons" does not mean something like "three countless eons," but rather refers to immeasurable eons beyond counting, due to the power of the mind and the power of obtaining samadhi. Because of making immeasurable reverence to the Buddhas of the sacred lands of the ten directions, the mind of the yogi with completely pure intention becomes supremely workable and can be directed as desired. Therefore, these Bodhisattvas, before attaining the first ground, will be able to obtain five benefits that serve as signs of attaining the ground. What are the five? The mind becomes workable, becoming an unsurpassed vessel capable of generating the unsurpassed wisdom of the first ground that surpasses the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Therefore, on the body of this Bodhisattva, as a bad state, the untamed mind jumping like a monkey, etc., and the heaviness and discomfort of the body, unable to be used for good deeds, etc., all of these will disappear in every instant, purifying the first merit of the habits of the bad state of unworkability of body and mind existing in the alaya consciousness. The body and mind will be filled with extreme pliancy at all times, which is the second. These two are like a bathing person washing away dirt with a cloth, etc., with bathing water, washing away the unworkability of the body with the water of shamatha-vipassana, and filling the body and mind with the bliss of extreme pliancy. Unlike some sacred scriptures that only know a part, it is possible to realize the appearance of understanding the meaning of all the sacred Dharma completely and uninterruptedly at all times, which is the third. The sign of truly attaining the noble ground, actually not having worms appear on the body, etc., and bathing in dreams, the Buddha's prophecy, etc., and the signs of obtaining the ten grounds in dreams as stated in the Ten Bhumi Sutra,

The reasons or signs for attaining the ground, such as these, are clearly seen even without special examination, and this is the fourth. These two are signs arising from higher vision. Similarly, in order to perfect the ultimate realization of the Dharmakaya and to completely purify the two obscurations to be abandoned, the wise one always cultivates the cause of ultimate abandonment and realization in all aspects of equality and subsequent attainment, and this is the fifth. This is a part of both tranquility and insight. In the commentary of Blo brtan, the exhaustion of the afflictions of body and mind, the pervasion of the body with the bliss of physical pliancy, and the pervasion of the mind with the bliss of mental pliancy are enumerated separately. The uninterrupted appearance of Dharma and the seeing of the five correct reasons are explained as five benefits. Maintaining the cause of perfecting the Dharmakaya and attaining purity is called maintaining all aspects. Here, as stated in the Compendium of Vehicles, the five benefits are explained as above. From the beginning of the chapter on instructions up to the point of showing the five qualities, this section shows how individual Bodhisattvas abiding on the ground of practice by faith attain Dharma and qualities. Third, the way to proceed on the path from there. From "From then on, having become like that" to "obtaining the unsurpassed state," it shows that from then on, having obtained special calm and insight on the path of accumulation, the Bodhisattva who abides in such a state, abiding single-mindedly in meditation, does not clearly see that all external things are separate from the mind, except for the expression of thought or conceptualization, and this is the time of obtaining the heat sign. In order to further increase the appearance of Dharma that has been obtained, diligence is steadfast, and that Bodhisattva constantly cultivates, and this is the time of the increasing light or the peak of expansion. Having cultivated diligence in this way, the appearance of Dharma greatly increases, and one becomes free from the appearance of external objects and other self-characteristics, and thus abides in mind-only. How does one abide in mind-only? From then on, all things that appear as real, such as form, are like the appearance at the time of recognizing a dream, and all of these are only the appearance of one's own mind, and not external things.
