When stating things in an undeviating order, before attachment arises to any particular thing, its name appears in the mind, and from that, its meaning is understood. The four combinations for understanding numbers, etc., are the means of listening to the Dharma on the path of accumulation and thereby finding the object of the Dharma. The combination of thorough understanding is on the path of joining, etc. This has eleven categories, and understanding these is called the combination of thorough understanding. What are these eleven? There are four on the path of joining, one on the path of seeing, two from the perspective of what is to be understood, two from the perspective of superior and inferior, and two from the distinction of subsequent attainment, making six. The four on the path of joining are: At the stage of warmth, when name and meaning are not inherently related, and name is designated as meaning and meaning is designated as name, understanding these as merely mental constructs, as mere designations of name and meaning, is called thoroughly understanding the adventitious nature of name and meaning. At the stage of peak, understanding that these phenomena that appear as the two, grasper and grasped, although they are not the nature of grasper and grasped, but due to the influence of mind and mental factors, they appear as if they exist and are established, or are merely the appearance of truly existing characteristics, like seeing two moons due to rubbing the eyes, is called thoroughly understanding the characteristics of true appearance, where 'characteristics' refers to the cause of appearance. It is said this way because it is understood that the cause of appearance is the mind. At the stage of forbearance, not conceptualizing the six objects or six meanings from form to Dharma, and not focusing on the grasped, thoroughly understanding this is called thoroughly understanding non-focus on meaning. At the stage of supreme Dharma, understanding that the six consciousnesses, which focus on the six objects and act as the grasper, are without inherent nature, is called thoroughly understanding non-focus on the object. Thus, after understanding that neither grasper nor grasped is focused upon, upon attaining the first bhumi of the path of seeing, understanding that the nature of phenomena, the Dharmadhatu, which is free from both grasper and grasped, is all-pervasive, is called thoroughly understanding the Dharmadhatu. In the path of seeing of the Hearers, it is called understanding the selflessness of the person, that is, the absence of a self of the person in the five aggregates.

Just by realizing it directly, one obtains the fruit of entering the stream. When a Bodhisattva is on the path of seeing, not only does he realize the absence of self of a person, but the five aggregates also appear like illusions, but because they have no self-nature, it is called thoroughly realizing the absence of self of phenomena. Those who thoroughly realize with a small mind are the four fruits of the Hearers, such as Stream-enterer, and the Solitary Realizers, because these only act for their own benefit and have not realized the absence of self of phenomena. The vast, great-minded thought of thoroughly realizing is that of the Bodhisattvas of the ten bhumis and the Tathagatas, because they act for the benefit of themselves and others, and have completely realized the two absences of self. How to understand the Dharma that has been understood and establish it, is to thoroughly realize, because at the time of the first bhumi of the path of seeing, one has understood the realm of Dharma. Being able to see the faces of a hundred Buddhas in an instant, etc., realizing hundreds of thousands of qualities, is realizing the establishment of Dharma. This is also realized with the correct view. Thoroughly realizing the established Dharma is also realizing the Dharma to be cultivated from the second to the tenth bhumi, from the qualities of each share, such as hundreds of thousands and twelve thousand, the establishment of increasing from top to top, one understands and realizes oneself. This is the correct realization of the practitioner of the path of cultivation. Although in the Tibetan commentaries, the latter six are only combined with the path of cultivation, I think it does not agree with the views of Vasubandhu and Lodrö Ten. Sixteenth, the mind-making of empowerment is indicated by the word "empowerment." There are three types of empowering mind-making: empowering the purification of afflictive obscurations, both afflictive and cognitive obscurations Empowering the purification, and empowering the accomplishment of special qualities. The first, attachment and other afflictions hinder liberation and nirvana, so by realizing the absence of self of a person, the path of seeing and the path of cultivation are used to eliminate these afflictions, so that they will not arise in the future. Only these, Hearers and Solitary Realizer Arhats also have. The second, the cognitive obscuration of clinging to the self-nature of the Dharma of grasper and grasped hinders the attainment of omniscient wisdom. After eliminating both afflictive and cognitive obscurations, never again
