The aspect of practice is called meditation, because it reduces possessions and abandons wrong livelihood. Right effort is: the path obtained by previously meditating completely, the habituation to this form is called meditation. From the stage of aspiration to the first ground, by meditating on the first ground, one obtains excellent diligence, and until the tenth ground, one becomes accustomed to the excellent diligence. Right mindfulness is: the aspect of not forgetting the sign of the existence of the Dharma is called meditation. Dharma refers to the Dharmadhatu of Dharma, and when one dwells single-mindedly on it, if agitation and dullness arise, one eliminates them with three signs as antidotes, thereby cultivating the aspect of not forgetting. The three signs are: the sign of calm abiding, the sign of admiration or praise, and the sign of equanimity. When agitated, meditate on the sign of calm abiding to pacify it. If dullness arises, pacify it by admiring the sign of praise. If there is neither dullness nor agitation at any time, contemplate the sign of equanimity, and let the mind rest without moving. Right concentration is: meditating on the signless itself, transforming into the state of abiding, is called meditation. Free from dullness and agitation, there is no need to rely on the three signs, so meditation transforms into effortless abiding, thereby attaining compassion. Twelfth, contemplating the nature of the two paths is: as indicated by "That is the nature of the two paths," meditation is the nature of the two paths of calm abiding and insight. Non-distraction relies on calm abiding, and through the insight that distinguishes all dharmas, one realizes the nature of all things as they are. Thirteenth, contemplating goodness or benefit is: as indicated by "Two benefits and," through contemplating the elimination of bad states and the elimination of views, two kinds of good benefits are established. There are also two kinds of bad states: the bad states of the body are killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, lying, and other non-virtuous deeds. The bad states of the mind are the three poisons of attachment, aversion, and ignorance, which cause the mind to waver in the cause of engaging in non-virtuous deeds. If contemplating what can eliminate bad states? By contemplating the selflessness of all dharmas and understanding it, one can eliminate them. Selflessness of person

Because of understanding, it eliminates the five views of destructive view, extreme view, wrong view, view of holding views as supreme, and view of holding precepts as supreme. Fourteenth, contemplating the instructions received according to the teachings, is indicated by the words "receiving" and so on. Those who abide in the Mahayana lineage and generate the mind of enlightenment, thus obtaining the samadhi of the stream of Dharma in the stage of practice with faith, receive and hold the instructions of samadhi for obtaining the first ground from the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, which is called contemplating the true reception. Fifteenth, practicing yoga contemplation, is indicated by the words "practitioner of yoga" and so on. There are five yogas for applying the fruit of receiving instructions to the path: First, the yoga of closely knowing the number is to contemplate how many names, sentences, words, and verses, etc., there are in the instructions that one has received from the scriptures of the twelve divisions of the teachings, such as the Sutra Pitaka, which is the object of samadhi. Second, the yoga of closely knowing the two ways of abiding or entering is that the way of abiding of those expressions is that letters are the root or matrix of all names and sentences, and that is about fifty Ali Kali, so contemplate that letters have a number. Names and sentences are immeasurable, just as there are very many names and sentences in the scriptures such as the Hundred Thousand Prajnaparamita, because there are countless Sutra Pitakas, so contemplate those immeasurable ways of abiding or entering. Third, the yoga of closely knowing the complete contemplation is that whatever person or contemplation, such as the name "vase," and its meaning, such as a vessel with a bulging belly filled with water, that name and that meaning are related, this name is called this, and the meaning is this, thus knowing the name and meaning of receiving instructions, etc., without error, that is, relying on the general sound of the name, when the image of the self-characteristic of the meaning appears in the realm of consciousness, clinging to the self-characteristic of the meaning, understanding the meaning from the name, is the complete contemplation of the meaning. When seeing the self-characteristic of the meaning, the name is applied to the general meaning, and knowing that this name is this, is the complete contemplation of the name. Fourth, the yoga of having a close knowledge of the order is that in the world, one is familiar with applying various names to vases, blankets, people, horses, etc., to the names of
