Son, how long will it take you to perfect the pāramitās and attain unsurpassed enlightenment to become a Buddha? To rejoice or desire upon receiving a prophecy is to desire a prophecy. Or, to desire to attain the eighth bhūmi because the prophecy is given at the time of the eighth bhūmi, what kind of prophecy is this? It is as explained by the three verses regarding the distinctions of individuals and times. "Certainly rejoicing" means to desire to attain the state of abiding in certainty, which is to say, to contemplate it. Among these, the first of the two, desiring certain enjoyment and desiring certain rebirth, is that upon perfecting the pāramitā of generosity and attaining the first bhūmi, one sees a hundred Buddhas in an instant, a hundred worlds tremble, and so forth, the twelve hundred qualities increase from bhūmi to bhūmi, until the perfection of the pāramitā of wisdom, at the time of the tenth bhūmi, one desires inconceivable wealth and the wealth of being skilled in the five sciences, having attained a power equal to the number of dust particles in realms that are beyond the scope of speech and mind. Desiring certain rebirth is to desire to attain the bodhisattva who is bound by one lifetime after attaining the tenth bhūmi. In this context, it is explained by one verse and two lines of verse, "The wise in all ways, perfect birth, etc." "For the sake of seeing in future lives, entering mind" means that in the future, one enters into contemplation because one can see. That is, having generated bodhicitta, if one desires unsurpassed enlightenment, one must see that one must practice the causes for it, the pāramitās, in whatever lifetime one is born. Therefore, if one practices the conduct of the six pāramitās with the mind or contemplation of constantly engaging in the six pāramitās in this life, then because one can see that one's co-emergent will also engage in the pāramitās in future lives, one engages in the pāramitās after thinking in this way. "For the sake of looking equally" means that I also, because I constantly train in the pāramitās, think that my body, speech, and mind are the same as those of other bodhisattvas, which is to contemplate thinking equally. "By entering into the supreme dharmas, in order to ascertain oneself as supreme" means that I ascertain myself as supreme, that is, by practicing the six pāramitās, which are the supreme path, the result will be the attainment of a bodhisattva.

Having attained the position of the ground and the position of the Buddha, by entering into the supreme Dharma of the path and the fruit, I definitely hold myself to be superior to all sentient beings, including the Hearers and Solitary Realizers. Therefore, the virtues arising from the cause of the Dharma that focuses on or is contained within the ten perfections, these virtues, when kept in mind, constantly expand the element of the ten perfections in the continuum of the Bodhisattva. These last three are to be done without fail, are to be done constantly, and are to be combined with the five verses that show the excellence or main point of the perfections. The reason why no mental activity is mentioned after this is that the Dharma of the chapter on qualities and the four establishments of truth, reason, and vehicle have already been included in seeking the Dharma, etc. After that, it is the praise of the Bodhisattva, and the chapter on conduct, from the sign to the ground, is only the stage of the path, and the verses of the Dharma of the fruit are the qualities of enlightenment, so there is no need to add mental activities to these separately, because they are already included above. From the cause and object to the joyful mental activity, to the mental activity of holding myself as supreme, without separately calculating some of the differences within them, there are generally fifty-one terms. All these mental activities are said to increase the element of the perfections. This also seems like the bond between the previous and subsequent chapters of this treatise. These seven, such as cause and object, also summarize the meaning of the ten chapters from refuge to enlightenment. By cause and object, the lineage is explained, and by the support, the subsequent recollection is explained. Based on the support of the path, the arising of Bodhicitta is the inner support, and the place where Bodhicitta arises, that is, the outer support, the Three Jewels, also includes refuge. Like enlightenment, with its suchness and enlightenment, the remaining four allude to accomplishment with power and perfect maturation, although they cannot be arranged according to the order of the chapters, but the meaning seems complete. From then on, it is the same as the order of aspiration, etc., which has already been said above. Third, explaining the distinction of completely seeking. It is shown by two verses, such as increasing and surpassing intention, how to seek the Dharma to be explained and the Dharma to be understood, which are also separately explained and classified.
