Thinking that those who are suffering like this should not generate hatred towards them, and teaching the Dharma of Pāramitā in order to be free from attachment and aversion. Mindfulness of shame is about feeling ashamed for having done evil that should not have been done, as indicated by "shame and regret." The Pāramitās, which were not done originally, or were not completed, and were done with miserliness and inferior path mindfulness, are called blameworthy or having done evil, and one feels ashamed and regretful for such things. "Delighting in the object" means that when constantly practicing the Pāramitās, one is not distracted and delights single-mindedly in that object. This is delighting in mindfulness, and it can also be called steadfast mindfulness. "Generating the perception of an enemy towards weariness" means that when engaging in generosity and other Pāramitās, one feels weary with a mind that does not want to practice. Thinking that this will cut off the path to attaining unsurpassed Bodhi, and therefore is an enemy, establishing the perception of an enemy in this way is non-weariness mindfulness. "Establishing" means thinking that sentient beings should be protected by teaching the Dharma related to the six Pāramitās, and therefore establishing disciples in the scriptures that teach the principles related to this, which is called establishing mindfulness, and should be understood as explained in the chapter on the Bodhipakṣa. "The wisdom of expression" means explaining in accordance with the differences in the capacities of individual sentient beings, which is the wisdom of expression, that is, expression mindfulness. This is about knowing the limits of worldly traditions. Below, in the chapter on the Bodhipakṣa, knowing the truth that contradicts worldly arising is the ultimate understanding. Generosity and other perfections are the basis for complete Bodhi, not power, etc., meaning that generosity and the other six Pāramitās are the basis for complete Bodhi, and it should be known that Īśvara, Brahmā, etc., are not the basis for attaining Bodhi. This is the mindfulness of the basis, which arises from wisdom endowed with the four reliances. Knowing the faults and qualities of both, each distinctly, means knowing that the opposing side, miserliness, etc., has the fault of leading to poverty, etc., and that generosity, etc., has the qualities opposite to that. For both the opposing side and the supporting side, one should know the respective faults and qualities and then apply mindfulness.
