Because they possess the essence of the Tathagatagarbha, there is no lineage that cannot attain Buddhahood, as the nature of mind is inherently clear. Because temporary defilements can be removed, even those who temporarily attain the Bodhi of the two vehicles, the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas who enter Nirvana without remainder, are urged by the rays of light of the Tathagatas to rise from the realm of cessation, take birth in inconceivable transformations, and ultimately complete the practices of perfection, maturation, and purification, thus attaining Buddhahood as it is believed. The ultimate meaning is thus accomplished, and this is also stated in the Uttaratantra Shastra. These two methods are in accordance with the faculties, abilities, and intentions of beings, and both methods are also taught in the Sutras. If viewed from a temporary perspective, the paths and fruits of the three vehicles exist separately, which can never be denied. The extinction of lineage is also similar, so it is explained in this way here. Eleventh, the complete seeking of the five sciences: The five sciences, etc., are taught in one verse. The Bodhisattvas of the Mahayana, having cut off all additions and subtractions to knowledge, become wise and attain omniscience, therefore they must study all knowledge well. Those Shravakas who desire peace and happiness can attain their own fruit by understanding the meaning of one verse of the path that cuts off the root of samsara, so they do not enter into a vast field of knowledge. If the meaning of all worldly and transworldly knowledge is summarized, it is included in these five sciences. First, because all Vedas and tenets, etc., must rely on expressive language to understand the meaning. Therefore, any language that has the nature of names, words, and letters, and can correctly and unerringly show the rules of how to connect names and words, etc., is the treatise on grammar or phonetics. That which can correctly and unerringly distinguish the meaning to be explained, without inversion or confusion, is the treatise on logic or the valid means of direct perception and inference, which can correctly and unerringly show the reasoning of valid means. Relying on the principles of worldly craftsmanship, including the arts of the body and handicrafts such as writing. Relying on speech, including the seven tones and speaking of Dharma and politics.
