Therefore, although it is not only through the noble path that one is born in samsara, those who do not return have the afflictions of the higher realms; those who have entered the stream and those who return once have not exhausted the afflictions to be abandoned through meditation in the desire realm, and they have the afflictions of the two higher realms. These beings who have afflictions, through the power of dedicating the noble path to being born in samsara, generate the cause of afflictions from laziness, and thus are born in samsara, as stated in the commentary. Here, those who have attained the noble path, their uncontaminated karma is never transformed into contaminated karma, because the uncontaminated does not become contaminated, and virtue does not become sin. However, having previously abandoned samsara through this uncontaminated path, the thought of oneself tending towards peaceful nirvana has been abandoned. Now, through the power of fully embracing the aspiration to be born in samsara, they possess an inconceivable transformation of birth that does not manifest the fruit of a Hearer, and this is because they take birth through the power of the aspiration in their minds, and this is not like the birth of ordinary people caused by contaminated karma, therefore it should be understood that they have obtained an inconceivable transformation of birth. The Buddha allowed those who were uncertain about the Hearer lineage and had not separated from desire to abandon the path of higher vision that contemplates samsara as suffering and nirvana as peace, to abandon the equanimity that is in accordance with attaining nirvana, and to engage in the path of cultivating great compassion that directly views samsara, therefore, these beings who hold onto being born in samsara with compassion are called those who have completely dedicated themselves to existence. These beings are noble ones who have seen the truth, therefore, unlike ordinary people who are controlled by karma and afflictions, and are involuntarily born again and again in samsara, they hold onto an inconceivable transformation of birth. How are they born? There are two types: those who have not separated from desire and those who have separated from desire. Among them, one type is those who have not separated from desire, namely, those who have entered the stream and those who return once. These beings, due to compassion for suffering sentient beings, aspire to be born wherever they wish to benefit sentient beings, and through such aspiration, they are able to perfectly accomplish the excellent birth there, and after being born, they benefit sentient beings, give them happiness, accumulate the two accumulations, and ultimately attain Buddhahood. The other type is those who have separated from desire, who will not return to the desire realm.

Because they possess magical abilities, although they themselves are not born in the desire realm, they manifest in samsara through the emanations of samadhi, accumulate merit, and ultimately attain Buddhahood. Those who see the truth through the path of the Shravakas, whether or not they have abandoned the desire for the desire realm, repeatedly have the thought of delighting in their own benefit arising in their minds due to the force of past habits. Therefore, they delight in Nirvana and believe that their realization of the fruit of the Mahayana is slow. The Shravaka vehicle practitioners who have not accomplished the meaning of seeing the truth, the uncertain-lineage ordinary beings or those who abide in the stage of adhimukticarya, who become Shravakas of the Buddha, delight in entering the Mahayana, and after passing away from the human realm of the desire realm, are born in the long-life gods of the desire realm. In this way, while dwelling in the long-life gods, when at some point the teacher Buddha does not reside in this world and his teachings decline and disappear, they will be born again in the desire realm. After being born in the desire realm, they do not rejoice in the world, and by the power of previously familiarizing themselves with the Buddha's teachings, they directly realize the noble path without a teacher, like a Pratyekabuddha. Then, with the intention of wanting to emanate, they strive to attain the samadhi of the form realm, and relying on the samadhi they have attained, they emanate emanations, benefit sentient beings in the three realms, perfect the accumulation of merit and wisdom, and ultimately attain supreme enlightenment. These are stated in the Garland Sutra: "At first, like fire spreading to heavy objects, then spreading to villages." With this metaphor, it refers to the three states of the first Shravaka, then the Pratyekabuddha, and finally the fully enlightened Buddha, so it is said in this way. In this way, according to the ultimate three-vehicle doctrine, those of uncertain lineage can enter the Mahayana and attain Buddhahood, while those of certain lineage as Shravakas or Pratyekabuddhas can never attain Buddhahood. Those who have severed their lineage, let alone attaining Buddhahood, do not even have the fortune to attain the Bodhi of Shravakas or Pratyekabuddhas. When the Arhats of Shravakas or Pratyekabuddhas enter Parinirvana without remainder, the five aggregates are completely cut off, so it is believed that it is impossible to enter the Mahayana. The Madhyamikas believe that all sentient beings have happiness.
