As the Supreme Buddha said, the term "perfectly enlightened" refers to awakening from the sleep of ignorance and increasing wisdom regarding what is to be known. As it is said, because it is the meaning of the Buddha's realization, it should be understood as the meaning of supreme realization. If "Buddha" is understood as the upper level being the substrate and the lower level being the characteristic, then it will not become a repetitive word. Therefore, the teachers, the perfectly enlightened Buddhas, in the sutras and other scriptures, have taught that the nature of all conditioned things is like illusion, dreams, mirages, and reflections, like echoes in a valley, like reflections of the moon in water, and like emanations, one should know. These teachings, in general, are metaphors for the appearance of all phenomena as being without inherent existence, and any of these can be used. But if we differentiate specifically, the six internal sense bases are like illusions. Why? Because the people, horses, elephants, etc. that appear in illusions, although they appear to have faculties, self, sentient beings, and non-sentient things, they actually appear like sentient beings with faculties, life, and consciousness. Similarly, for sentient beings who appear to have the six internal sense bases such as the eye, it is shown that they do not have life or a person, etc. The six external sense bases, such as forms, the six objects, are like the appearance of dreams. In dreams, the forms of men and women, etc., and sounds, smells, tastes, tactile sensations, and phenomena are experienced as being enjoyed, but it should be known that this is like there being no other object. The "two," the two, mind and mental factors, are like mirages. In a mirage, there is no water, but because of the blue color and movement, etc., those who are far away have the illusion of water, but when they get close, there is nothing there. Similarly, the mind and mental factors arise with pillars, pots, men, women, blue, yellow, white, red, and various phenomena, and they think, "This is this, that is that," and they cling to them with conceptual thoughts. But if we examine these phenomena, because they are many and impermanent, etc., there is no complete object to cling to. The "two sets of six," the above examples of reflections and cataracts, are related to the two sets of six internal and external sense bases. The six internal sense bases are like reflections, because of the shape, in a mirror.

Just as an image appears on the surface of a mirror, the appearance of the six sense bases, though unreal, is like an image. This is because it appears from the karmic imprints of actions accumulated by the six sense bases of previous lives, like a form. The external six sense bases are like eye ailments, which refer to all the appearances of visual illusions caused by conditions. For example, seeing a mound of earth as a person, seeing two moons by squeezing the eyes, seeing one's own shadow as another creature, seeing illusions of hair, and seeing mountains moving when on a boat, etc. There are many such instances, but here it should be understood as a shadow. Just as shadows arise due to umbrellas and bodies, the external six sense bases also arise due to the internal six sense bases, like their shadows. From the alaya consciousness, the internal six sense bases such as the eyes arise, and from them, the external six sense bases appear as objects. The statement that the three correspond one by one refers to the Dharma of teaching, the mind abiding in samadhi, and the three bodies that take rebirth according to aspiration, which should be respectively associated with the three examples of echoes, moon in water, and emanations. All the Dharma of teaching is like an echo, which does not have the nature of sound itself, but can be heard within the range of hearing. All the Dharma of teaching is similar to that. Just as the image of the moon appears in clear water, although it can appear, it does not actually exist. Similarly, because the mind abides in focused samadhi, it is not disturbed by other distracting thoughts, like clear water. No matter what is meditated upon, such as the Four Noble Truths, mindfulness of death, subduing afflictions, etc., the image of the object of meditation appears clearly. Taking rebirth according to aspiration is like an emanation appearing from one place to another, without attachment or hatred. Bodhisattvas, for the benefit of sentient beings, pass from one life to another and take rebirth, also without attachment or hatred. Third, completely seeking what is to be known is indicated by one verse, such as "Not truly real." If what is to be known is briefly summarized, it is to distinguish which dharmas are worldly and which are transcendent. Non-true conceptualization is not distinguishing the realm of Dharma and phenomena.

After attaining such wisdom, it does not conform to all the pervasive conceptualizations of grasping and being grasped in the three realms. Not real and not unreal either, refers to the time when ordinary beings, starting from listening well to the true Dharma and contemplating it, properly attend to all the Dharma of the grounds of faith and practice up to the supreme Dharma of the world. At that time, because there is pervasive conceptualization of grasping and being grasped, it is not real. It conforms to the realization of the Dharmadhatu and transcendent wisdom, and becomes its cause, so it is called not unreal either. Non-conceptual refers to the realm of objects, the Dharmadhatu, and its object, transcendent wisdom, which does not conceptualize, because these two do not have conceptualizations such as grasping and being grasped. Non-conceptual, not non-conceptual, refers to the pure worldly wisdom obtained after non-conceptual wisdom in Samadhi. It is the non-conceptual wisdom that focuses on the Dharmadhatu, and because it focuses on it, there is no grasping or being grasped, or because it is obtained after it, there is no attachment to its grasping and being grasped, so it is not conceptualization either. Because the self-characteristics and general characteristics of all Dharmas are not confused, and they are distinguished like illusions and mirages, it is also not non-conceptual. It is said that all knowable things are contained in these four, because there is no other Dharma besides Mind-Only, and these four states of mind and the Dharmadhatu encompass all knowable things. Fourth, the thorough search for pervasive contamination and purification is indicated by the two verses "one's own realm" and so on. The nature of pervasive contamination, summarized by afflictions, karma, and birth or maturation, and the realm of purification, summarized by the noble path and Nirvana, are examined. Among them, realm, seed, and cause are the same in meaning. The Alaya consciousness, together with the habits of grasping and being grasped, is called one's own realm. From it, it appears as the two, grasping and being grasped, and at the time of appearance, together with ignorance, which does not understand the nature of things, and other afflictions such as attachment, the aspect of grasping objects such as form and grasping them.
