And by knowing death and birth, one knows the future times; with the miraculous ear, one hears all sounds; with the knowledge of others' minds, one knows the various kinds of thoughts in the minds of sentient beings; with the ability to remember previous lives, one knows the various circumstances of one's own and others' previous lives; with the direct perception of miraculous powers, one manifests various kinds of bodies, and shows various kinds of miracles. In this way, by the power of direct perception, one is able to accomplish all the wishes of oneself and others as desired. Furthermore, the mind of enlightenment that possesses the four objects of gathering should be understood to be like the sun. Just as the sun ripens various crops, one gathers miserly people with generosity and places them in virtue; similarly, one gathers those with hatred with kind speech, those with ignorance with beneficial conduct, and those with pride with harmonious actions, and places them in virtue. Or, in general, one gathers all sentient beings with the four means of gathering and places them in virtue, thereby ripening theirContinuum. Furthermore, the mind of enlightenment that possesses the four correct understandings of Dharma, meaning, etymology, and eloquence is like the beautiful sound of a Gandharva. Because it possesses the four correct understandings, sentient beings each want to understand from which Dharma and meaning they want to begin. When they ask, the Bodhisattva has inexhaustible eloquence and can explain the meaning of what they ask in their own languages, thereby making their minds very satisfied. Just as the beautiful sound of a Gandharva is very pleasing, and whoever hears it feels joy and satisfaction. Furthermore, the mind of enlightenment that possesses the four reliances should be understood to be like a king. A king rules the country, and his subjects cannot disobey his orders, so there is no waste. Similarly, any Bodhisattva who possesses the four reliances can, within the scope of words and meanings, persons and Dharma, provisional and definitive meanings, consciousness and wisdom, know without error all the intentions taught by the Tathagata, and thus be able to realize the meaning of the Buddha's words without wasting them. For example, if one relies well on a king, the king will give politics and enjoyment, etc., and become the cause of not wasting people; if one relies poorly, it will endanger politics and life.

Just as doing something that is a waste of effort, if one relies on merely a person, merely words, merely literal meanings, and merely consciousness, then the person who relies on this will become the cause of wasting effort. If one relies on Dharma, meaning, ultimate meaning, and wisdom, then such reliance will not waste the meaning of the Buddha's teachings. Similarly, other Bodhicitta endowed with the two accumulations of merit and wisdom is like a treasury. Just as there are countless grains and treasures in a treasury, similarly, the Bodhicitta corresponding to it also has countless accumulations of merit and countless accumulations of wisdom. Bodhicitta endowed with the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment is like a great road, where all beings of the three times, high and low, travel. These thirty-seven factors of enlightenment are also the path from which all Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Bodhisattvas of the past, present, and future go to their respective fruit positions of enlightenment. Therefore, know that these two are similar. Bodhicitta endowed with Shamatha and Vipassana is to be known as being like a vehicle. Just as vehicles such as horses, elephants, and chariots carry burdens and go to the place one wants to go, Shamatha, which keeps the mind from being distracted and focuses on one point, and Vipassana, which realizes the meaning without error, are combined. From this, one realizes the meaning of all the phenomena of suchness and as-it-is that have been determined without error, and finally reaches the place of the ultimate fruit.
