Being happy to benefit others is like a grand feast. Wherever one is, to be born at will into whatever body one wishes, is like dwelling in a delightful and supreme place. There, to manifest various kinds of miracles with the five kinds of clairvoyance is like engaging in various kinds of amusements. Thus, bodhisattvas who repeatedly take birth in samsara are like worldly people experiencing the four joys of going to a garden, having the joy adorned with the ornaments of qualities, the joy of feasts that benefit others, the joy of dwelling in a supreme and desirable garden for the sake of others, and the joy of experiencing various kinds of miraculous feats. These four joys are not possessed by others besides the compassionate bodhisattvas, let alone worldly people, even the noble ones who are Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Therefore, bodhisattvas who generate the mind of enlightenment should generate the mind of enlightenment because of their particularly superior qualities. Sixth, it is explained that one is not deterred or discouraged by the suffering of giving away one's body, etc. Because one realizes that all phenomena are without self, one is completely free from attachment to one's own benefit. In order to place other sentient beings who have not realized this in the ultimate benefit and happiness of this life, one is constantly diligent in the six perfections. Because the suffering of others also causes oneself to suffer, this compassionate bodhisattva, whenever it is for the benefit of others, even if it means placing oneself in the Avici hell, feels happy and joyful and does not generate the slightest aversion. Such people, how could they fear the suffering that arises from giving away their body and limbs, etc., for the benefit of other sentient beings, or for some purpose? This shows that they are able to endure intense suffering. According to the translation of the 'Commentary on the Steadfast Mind', it says 'Due to the suffering that arises from depending on others', the meaning is the same. Thus, because the bodhisattva possesses such extraordinary qualities, they are not afraid of any suffering in samsara, and they always joyfully accept everything, their joy never diminishes, therefore they do not feel aversion.

One should practice the path to enlightenment. Seventh, Bodhisattvas are great, unacquainted friends to all sentient beings; they don't benefit others through prior acquaintance, such as pleasing them with respect, wealth, and service, or becoming like relatives and supports in this life. Rather, they naturally cherish other sentient beings with loving-kindness, and thus naturally engage in the welfare of sentient beings without needing to be urged by others. This shows that, just as a student is guided by a teacher to do what should be done and abandon what should not, the loving-kindness of a teacher who urges others, the great compassion that constantly relies on their own being, Bodhisattvas, because their own minds are pained by the sufferings of others, even more so than a mother whose child is sick. Therefore, regarding the task of eliminating the suffering of other sentient beings and placing them in happiness and virtue, if they are capable and it is within reach, it is extremely shameful for them not to engage in it themselves and need to be urged by others, as it is inconsistent with the conduct of a Bodhisattva. For example, if a son becomes wealthy and sees his mother in extreme poverty, yet does not give even a little, and another person has to urge him, saying, "Isn't this your mother? Give her some food," even worldly people would be ashamed. If, even after being urged, he still doesn't give anything, he would be considered such a vile person, a matter of extreme shame. Similarly, the great compassion of the teacher is like the one who urges, and it is very shameful if those who rely on them do not engage in accordance with the meaning of compassion. Therefore, Bodhisattvas do not need other sentient beings to urge them; because they themselves have become beings with a state of loving-kindness, they engage in the welfare of sentient beings without needing to be urged. Thus, in order not to abandon the welfare of sentient beings, they implicitly show praise of merit, thereby exhorting engagement in the welfare of sentient beings. Eighth, the exhortation that Bodhisattvas should exert themselves even more diligently: Even in the world, those who carry heavy burdens must strive to walk quickly on long roads and must not be too lax.

Just as it is difficult to go to a difficult place. Bodhisattvas, in order to liberate all sentient beings to unsurpassed enlightenment, generate the mind to attain great enlightenment, and therefore carry the heavy burden of all sentient beings on their heads. The bodhisattva, who is the best of sentient beings, must go to the state of great enlightenment as he has promised. However, with regard to the six perfections that are the cause of this, it is not appropriate to go slowly or enter the path if one does not quickly exert effort in practice, but instead falls under the sway of laziness that postpones. Even the Shravakas, who strive to cut the bonds of karma and afflictions for their own sake alone, just as fire arises from quickly rubbing the fire drill and rubbing it without interruption, quickly exert effort and attain their own fruit of enlightenment in three or seven lifetimes. Bodhisattvas, however, must remove the bonds of karma and afflictions that exist in the continuum of themselves and all other sentient beings. Now, I and other sentient beings are bound by the three obscurations of karma, afflictions, and maturation, and are tightly bound by various kinds of bonds. Therefore, it is reasonable that the effort of a bodhisattva should be a hundred times greater than the effort of a Shravaka or Pratyekabuddha. Thus it was said. Explanation of the fifth chapter, the chapter on generating the mind, from the Ornament for the Great Vehicle Sutras. The fifth chapter, the chapter on generating the mind.
