The intervals where the land is barren are the side of sin and non-virtue. When these occur, one should confess them individually, and rejoice in oneself and others practicing the six perfections such as generosity, and request the Tathagatas to turn the wheel of Dharma of the profound and vast Paramita. Represented by the three of confession, rejoicing, and request, all the roots of virtue of oneself and others are completely dedicated to the sake of unsurpassed Bodhi, these are the four. As it is said in the Sutra: All sins are confessed individually, all roots of virtue are rejoiced in, all Buddhas are urged and requested, may self and others obtain the supreme and excellent unsurpassed wisdom. Thus it is said. Furthermore, extremely pure attention, truly receiving attention, etc., these categories of attention as explained, by paying attention, the realm of Paramita is expanded. "Extremely pure" means generating extremely pure faith in the Dharma and meaning of the six Paramitas, this is extremely pure attention. "Dharma and meaning" refers to the Dharma and meaning explained by Paramita, which is Paramita itself. Or, Dharma refers to the Dharma of Paramita as the cause, and meaning refers to its result. In short, believing in the six Paramitas as the basis of all completion, maturation, and purification, and in the immeasurable qualities of the result, is attention. "Truly receiving" means that after believing in this way, seeking and truly receiving the Dharma that teaches Paramita, this is truly receiving attention. "Desiring to give to others" means being happy to give this Dharma to others, or keeping the seventh attention in mind, these three are the occasions for explanation. "Armor" means putting on armor to practice immeasurable Paramita, this is armor attention. "Aspiration" means aspiring that in all lifetimes, with the causes for perfecting the six Paramitas, possessing virtuous friends, relatives, body, resources, etc., one will continuously practice vast Paramita. This is attention of aspiration. "Manifest joy" means generating manifest joy from the depths of one's heart for the practice of Paramitas, which are the cause for obtaining unsurpassed Bodhi in all lifetimes, this is attention.

It is the meaning of entering the instructions of Paramita as shown subsequently. After that, the skillful attention is indicated by the term "action mind", which means that not only does one personally train in the Paramitas, but also, with regard to what others have done, one cultivates the Paramitas to perfection by rejoicing, manifesting joy, and savoring them. The four kinds of joyful attention refer to what is taught from "the six kinds of giving, etc." to "supreme and genuine joy." What are the four? They are joyful attention to gaining power over the six Paramitas, joyful attention to fully maturing sentient beings, joyful attention to making offerings to the Tathagatas, and joyful attention to relying on virtuous friends. Among these, the first is that each of the giving, etc., also has six each from the giving of giving to the wisdom of giving, in the manner of six sixes, thirty-six, gaining the power to enter such a Paramita is the first joyful attention. Each of the six perfections, such as giving, also becomes sixfold, each of their own entities, such as the giving of giving, and at that time, from the aspect of benefiting others, giving is refraining from misdeeds, practicing virtue, and benefiting sentient beings.

Thus, by properly and with great joy attending to the four: generosity and other perfections, the objects of collection, offerings, and service, one expands the realm of the perfections. Following that, attending with loving-kindness is indicated by the word "loving-kindness," which also includes the four: love, compassion, joy, and equanimity, as will be explained below in the section on the immeasurable qualities. Furthermore, with compassion as a perfection, one feels compassion for those who dwell in opposition to the six perfections or who suffer due to their causes, not merely being compassionate but also eliminating their suffering as much as possible and abandoning the causes of not experiencing suffering, such as miserliness, and establishing them in the perfections. Love is the desire for all sentient beings to be happy, and it is not merely love but also establishing them in the perfections, which are the causes of happiness. Joy is, for sentient beings who possess the causes of happiness such as generosity or the happiness that is its result, to rejoice wholeheartedly in their happiness and to establish the cause of their happiness not being separated, in the virtuous perfections. Equanimity is the absence of attachment and aversion, so one thinks, "May attachment not arise towards those who possess happiness," and "May aversion not arise towards those who suffer, such as those whose possessions are plundered by others," and one teaches the Dharma of the perfections for the sake of being free from attachment and aversion. Attending with shame is to feel shame for what has not been done or for evil deeds that have been done, as indicated by "shame and regret." Not having done the perfections at all, not having completed them, and having done them with miserliness and inferior intentions are called blameworthy or evil deeds, and one feels shame and regret for such things. To rejoice in the object means that when constantly practicing the perfections, one rejoices single-mindedly in that object without distraction, which is attending with joy, and this can also be called attending with steadfastness. To regard weariness as an enemy means that when engaging in generosity and other perfections, one regards the weariness that arises from the unwillingness to practice as an enemy, thinking, "This is an obstacle to attaining unsurpassed enlightenment," and establishing the perception of an enemy is attending without weariness. To establish means thinking that one should protect sentient beings by teaching the Dharma related to the six perfections, and to expound the treatises that teach the scriptures related to that.
