It should be remembered that this is very important. Fifth, the extremely desirous attention means having a stronger desire than before, as shown earlier. That is, after remembering the Buddha, one develops a strong desire of faith in him. Believing that the Buddha is the ultimate refuge, has exhausted all faults, perfected all virtues, spontaneously accomplished the two benefits, and is endowed with the three bodies. Believing that the Dharma is the true Dharma that manifests the path and cessation. Believing that the Sangha has entered the right path, transcended the mire of samsara, and is a true place of offering. One develops a strong desire of faith in these. Sixth, the attention that abides in samadhi is: inferior and complete, the supports are of two kinds; with speech and without speech. As shown earlier. Relying on the preliminary concentration and the immediate concentration of the first dhyana is inferior. Relying on the actual samadhi from the first to the fourth dhyana is the complete support or place, which are of two kinds. In the actual samadhi, those similar to the preliminary concentration and the actual first dhyana are those with both investigation and analysis, therefore called with speech. Because investigation and analysis are the cause of arousing all speech, it is with speech. The special non-investigative but analytical actual first dhyana also belongs to the former. The actual samadhi of the second dhyana and above, because it is separated from both investigation and analysis, is called without speech. In the Commentary on the Steadfast Intellect, it is said that the preliminary concentration and the first dhyana are with investigation and analysis, the second dhyana and the intermediate dhyanas are with analysis but without investigation, and the third and fourth dhyanas are samadhi without investigation or analysis. Seventh, the attention endowed with knowledge is: corresponding with knowledge, yoga cause and self. As shown earlier. In the Commentary on the Steadfast Intellect, it says: completely corresponding with wisdom, is the nature of the cause of yoga. That is to say, being completely or truly corresponding with the wisdom or knowledge arising from meditation is called knowledge attention. This knowledge itself is the nature of yoga or tranquility and insight, and its cause is the nature or essence of the wisdom of hearing and thinking.

In short, the yoga of shamatha and vipassana that arises from the cause of immaculate hearing and thinking is a mindful attention with wisdom. Eighth, attending to the mixed is attending to the mixed. It is indicated below by "and there are five aspects." There are five aspects to attending to the mixed: attending to the mixed in the sutras, attending to the mixed in the verses of dedication or summary, attending to the mixed in the introduction, attending to the mixed in the grasping, and attending to the mixed in the explanation. First, with regard to sutras such as the Ten Bhumi Sutra, briefly attending to the general meaning, and summarizing the teachings of each chapter into the essential points, and attending to it in that way. Attending to the essential points by summarizing the core meaning in the form of a general outline, such as the introduction, the main text, and the conclusion. How one has grasped it, summarizing the meaning to be cultivated as just this much. When explaining to others, also summarizing in the same way. In short, the meaning of the sutras, and the verses in between that dedicate or summarize the meaning, and the introduction, are all summarized and attended to. The meaning of teaching and listening is also similarly refined and attended to. If all the teachings of the Mahayana sutras are summarized, they are the two, profound and vast. If the profound meaning is summarized, it is like summarizing all the elaborations of the two dharmas, the grasped and the grasper, self and other, etc., into suchness. Although explained extensively in various ways, know that it ultimately comes down to this. Summarizing all the vast dharmas into the three, ground, path, and result. Summarizing the ground into the two truths, the path into the two accumulations, and the result into the two kayas, and attending to the mixed in this way. Ninth, attending to the different or unmixed is attending to the unmixed. Subsequently, it is indicated by "it is sevenfold." There are seven aspects to attending to the unmixed: attending to the name, such as pillar and vase. Attending to the word, such as long pillar, new vase, etc., explaining by combining the name and its characteristics. Attending to the letter, that is, attending to the letters such as A and Ka, which are the basis of all names. These three are divided into three aspects in terms of the expression, the sutras.
