It should be considered that the ultimate views of the two great chariots of Madhyamaka and Cittamatra are consistent. Then, why do the Madhyamaka masters refute the views of the Cittamatrins? This is because those who claim to be Cittamatrins, in the context of Cittamatra, say that external objects do not exist, and the mind is real. It's like a rope, although there is no snake, the rope itself is not empty. They did not understand that this is just a way of acknowledging within the scope of conventional truth, but instead clung to the idea that the consciousness of dualistic grasping is truly existent in the ultimate sense, so they refuted this view. But they did not refute the view of the noble Asanga, who truly realized the path of Cittamatra taught by the Buddha. It is reasonable to say so, because if the scholars of Tibet believe that the Shravaka pathfinders also realize both the selflessness of persons and the selflessness of phenomena, and there is no difference from the Madhyamikas, then what is there to say about the noble Asanga realizing the Madhyamaka view? Because he is a noble being. In general, it is enough for the Madhyamikas to determine that the phenomena of dependent origination are unborn, and it is not necessary to accept the views of the Cittamatrins. However, dependent origination is also divided into two types: dependent origination that distinguishes self-nature, and dependent origination that distinguishes between pleasant and unpleasant. The first is to explain how all phenomena arise from the Alaya consciousness. This subtle inner dependent origination is to be realized by Bodhisattvas who are skilled in subtle and profound meanings. Therefore, the noble Asanga said in the Compendium on the Great Vehicle and other texts that the coarse outer twelve dependent origination that distinguishes between pleasant and unpleasant is more profound than the former. Similarly, in the sutras of definitive meaning and the profound tantric scriptures, it is also said that there is no dharma other than the mind, and the root of both samsara and nirvana lies in the mind. Because of the power of the mind, the phenomena of samsara and nirvana arise. If there is no mind, these phenomena cannot exist. This is because the power of the mind causes afflictions to create karma, thereby accomplishing the side of impure samsara; the power of the mind causes wisdom and compassion to realize selflessness, thereby practicing the Mahayana path, transforming the eight consciousnesses, including the Alaya consciousness, into the nature of the five wisdoms.

The attainment of Buddhahood, and also the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, also achieve Nirvana by taking rebirth with the mind that realizes the selflessness of the person. Therefore, the root of complete enlightenment depends on the mind, which all Buddhists must acknowledge. Moreover, if the mind is determined to be without inherent existence, one can realize the Great Vehicle path with little effort, as stated in the Ornament for Clear Realization, this is a crucial point of the path. In India, the master Bhāviveka, widely known as a great scholar, summarized all the essential points of Madhyamaka in his treatise, the Lamp for the Jewel of Madhyamaka, stating: Yogachara Madhyamaka has the subtle inner Madhyamaka, while Madhyamaka that asserts external objects has the coarse outer Madhyamaka. During practice, Yogachara Madhyamaka is more profound, and therefore, the venerable Chandrakirti also practiced in this way. Therefore, the so-called "dualistic consciousness is self-illuminating," if what the Mind-Only school acknowledges is the ultimate dualistic consciousness of grasper and grasped, and if this grasping and grasped is considered inexpressible, and its nature is not empty, but truly existent, then this should be refuted. If it is said that wisdom itself is the nature of primordial unoriginatedness, experienced directly through self-awareness, and is the self-illuminating wisdom without grasper and grasped, then this should be established. Such a view must be acknowledged by both Madhyamaka and Tantra. If there is no individual self-aware wisdom or clear light mind, then on the path of learning, it is not reasonable to have the wisdom that realizes the truth of reality, and in the state of non-learning, without remainder Nirvana, if the Buddha does not have omniscient wisdom, then the Hinayana Nirvana is no different from a extinguished candle, so how can one assert that the Buddha's body, wisdom, and activity are inexhaustible? Therefore, although the great chariots of Madhyamaka and Mind-Only appear to have different systems in the way they establish the path of profound and vast Dharma, it is very good to understand that their ultimate intention merges into one in the realm of wisdom. In short, the reality of all phenomena, that suchness, is not any side of cutting off appearance and emptiness, but is union, to be known individually by self-awareness, and that is the basis.
