Its nature is. As stated, the completely imputed is non-existent in reality, and the dependent is the basis for complete imputation, appearing as two. The perfectly established is empty of the two that are not inverted, so they are not one, they are the dharma-holder and the dharma-nature. If you ask, are they different? The answer is no. Because in the nature of the dependent, the absence of the two grasping and grasped that are completely imputed is the perfectly established, and there is nothing else called the perfectly established. Therefore, the dharma-nature of the dharma-holder dependent is the perfectly established. If the two become different, then the dependent must not be empty of the two grasping and grasped, but this is not reasonable. For example, know that the conditioned and the impermanent, or fire and heat, are not different. The ultimate perfectly established has no birth or destruction or cessation from the beginning. Why? Because whatever whose nature is not born from causes and conditions, how can there be destruction? Even in the time of samsara and nirvana, there is no difference between before and after, so it never changes. There is no increase or decrease, and it remains as it is. For example, just as there is no increase or decrease in the sky when there are clouds and when there are no clouds, because the impurities decrease and the pure aspects increase, the suchness does not change or increase or decrease. Because its nature is naturally pure, there is no new purity. For example, the sky, good gold, water, and crystal are naturally pure. From the perspective of nature, although there is no impurity to be removed, just as the sky has sudden clouds, gold has rust, water has turbidity, and crystal is free from impurities, so too, the perfectly established, by the power of removing the two sudden obscurations, the impurities become completely pure, which is the nature of the ultimate. Thus, the non-dual ultimate is shown by five meanings, namely, neither existent nor non-existent, neither one nor different, without birth or death, without increase or decrease, and neither pure nor impure. As the Madhyamaka school says, all phenomena that appear by the power of dependent origination are not non-existent in conventional terms, and are not existent in ultimate terms, nor are they both existent and non-existent. Because what is non-existent in ultimate terms is the dharma-nature of all phenomena that exist in conventional terms, so the two are different in name.

Therefore, merely distinguishing them does not establish them as two different entities in reality, just like the heat of fire and the sweetness of molasses. So, is that third thing, which exists conventionally but not ultimately, and is neither of those two, the suchness itself? No, because there is no valid cognition that establishes a third thing that is neither the characterized nor the emptiness of the nature of reality. Moreover, such a third thing cannot be the nature or the reality of conventional phenomena. Therefore, being free from the four extremes of existence and non-existence, being two and not being two, is being free from all elaborations. That is, the two truths, where phenomena and the nature of reality are inseparable, are considered to be inseparable and knowable by each individual themselves. Such a nature of reality, free from elaborations, is always equal in being free from arising, ceasing, decreasing, and increasing, so there is not even a trace of the characteristics of dualistic phenomena such as purity and impurity. Furthermore, this Mind-Only school asserts that all phenomena are merely appearances of the mind, and there is nothing else. And, they consider the basis of appearance, the other-dependent consciousness of clear awareness, to be substantially existent. If one pursues the ultimate intention of that view, then consciousness is considered merely as a substantially existent thing that is the cause of the appearance of all conventions. If it is not considered to be a substantially existent thing that is ultimately truly established, then there is no contradiction with the Madhyamaka school. If it is considered to be truly established ultimately, then it contradicts the Madhyamaka school, so it seems that one can examine whether it contradicts Madhyamaka with just this difference. Any individual, when practicing the treatises of the Maitreya teachings and the great chariot of Asanga, first recognizes all phenomena as Mind-Only, then experiences the mind without grasping, and then, because there is no grasping, there is also no grasper, so at the time of the peak of the path of joining, after realizing that, one directly realizes the truth of the nature of reality, which is free from grasper and grasped, and thus attains the first ground. Moreover, regarding the reason for being Mind-Only, it is also said that the alaya consciousness, which is the cause of the dualistic appearances of grasper and grasped that appear as places, things, and bodies, is substantially existent in name, but it appears in various ways without being established as those two, so it is similar to illusion and so on. Therefore, it is very easy to understand that in this school, the wisdom of emptiness of duality does not have truly established entities and characteristics.
