If even the thought of always retreating and harming the mind does not arise, what need is there to mention actual physical actions? All sentient beings fall into evil destinies and evil paths because they do not follow the path of the ten non-virtuous actions. Therefore, I should abide in truly practicing virtue in this way, and I should also encourage others to truly practice. As it is extensively taught in the sutras. The characteristic of the third ground is that from the state of supreme bliss of the four dhyanas, without degenerating from that dhyana, after obtaining the samadhi of that dhyana, one is born in the desire realm. The sutra says: He thus sees the wisdom of the Tathagata without interruption, and fully understands that becoming a conditioned phenomenon is endowed with many harms. Therefore, he places ten thoughts of mind even more on sentient beings. What are the ten? They are like this, the thought of sentient beings without protectors and without support, and so on. After hearing these teachings, one must also contemplate them in one's own mind, and then go alone to a solitary place, and so on, thereby accomplishing the first, second, third, and fourth dhyanas, and generating dhyanas and liberations, and so on, as extensively taught. Then, the characteristic of the fourth ground is that with wisdom, one directly realizes the dharmas that are in accordance with enlightenment, and with compassion, one completely dedicates them to samsara. Others say: If the dharmas in accordance with enlightenment are the path to definitely escape from samsara, then how can they be dedicated to samsara and become the cause of samsara? The answer is: For example, poison that is not grasped by skillful means becomes the cause of death, while poison that is grasped by skillful means becomes medicine. Cultivating the aspects of enlightenment that are not grasped by skillful means of great compassion becomes the cause of arising from samsara, while cultivating the aspects of enlightenment that are grasped by great compassion becomes the cause of being born in samsara. Bodhisattvas who do not turn their backs on samsara also cultivate the aspects of enlightenment with great compassion for the benefit of sentient beings. Therefore, those aspects of enlightenment do not turn their backs on samsara, but become the cause of manifestly seeing samsara, and therefore are completely dedicated to samsara.

It is said in the commentary. Also in the sutra: "O sons of the Victorious Ones, the bodhisattva who dwells on the Illuminating Ground of the bodhisattva, possesses diligence and awareness, and is endowed with mindfulness, thereby completely abandoning worldly attachment and displeasure. He dwells in the contemplation of the body on the inner body, etc. They also rely closely on the perfect accomplishment of their past aspirations, with compassion for all sentient beings, preceded by great compassion, and endowed with great love, etc." As it is said. The characteristic of the fifth ground is: Without any defilements in the mind, it is established as the very means of fully maturing sentient beings. That is, on this ground, by possessing the meditation on the Four Noble Truths as an antidote to defilements, one is free from defilements such as desire, and is skilled in various fields of craftsmanship and technology, and fully matures sentient beings through the gateway of the three vehicles. In the sutra it says: "He generates the power of mindfulness, intelligence, and the wisdom of understanding, and becomes irreversible for the sake of mental activity, and therefore he truly knows that this is the Noble Truth of Suffering." And so on. Moreover, by diligently seeking excellent Dharma, he accomplishes in this world letters, craftsmanship, arithmetic, and legal methods, etc. The investigation of origins, the investigation of healing, the elimination of emaciation and forgetfulness, the elimination of demonic possession, the elimination of poison and the combination of corpses, mantras and dances, speech and music, and the extreme joy of stories, etc., even to the extent that all sentient beings have benefit and happiness, they gradually establish themselves in the Dharma of the Buddha with compassion, and therefore diligently accomplish it. Thus it is said. The characteristic of the sixth ground is: Intentionally thinking for the benefit of sentient beings, When taking birth in the realm of samsara, by meditating on dependent origination, one protects against all defilements and abides without being tainted. That is to say, the bodhisattvas who abide on the sixth ground take birth in the three realms, not involuntarily due to the power of karma and defilements, but by merit.
