Everything is taught as selfless. From where is it taught? It is taught from the teaching of the four seals of Dharma, saying that all dharmas are selfless. Similarly, in the Sravaka's Sutra called 'Ultimate Emptiness,' it is also said that in the ultimate meaning or in reality, all dharmas are emptiness. Also, from within the long Agama Sutra of the Sravakas, in the context of explaining the five aggregates based on five, it is said that if one clings to self, five kinds of faults will arise. It is taught that even if there is karma of virtue and vice, and one experiences the ripening of happiness and suffering, there is no person who abandons this aggregate and takes another, except for the mere designation of dharma that arises and enters into samsara through the twelve links of dependent origination. Therefore, to fixate on the idea that the self exists as a substance is a fault, and it is contradictory to the Buddha's teachings. The five faults are clinging to self and life. If one accepts that the person exists substantially, then with regard to the meaning of no-self and non-self, one will cling to self and life, which is the first fault. There is no difference from the non-Buddhists, just as the non-Buddhists believe in the existence of a self, there is no difference between this and believing that the person exists substantially, which is the second fault. Entering the wrong path, the path to nirvana and liberation is to meditate on impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and selflessness. However, clinging to self and person is not the path to liberation, but the path to birth in samsara and the lower realms, thus entering the wrong path, which is the third fault. Their mind does not enter into emptiness, emptiness is no-self and non-self, and those who believe that the person exists substantially are incompatible with this, therefore their mind does not enter into emptiness, because they do not listen, do not think, do not meditate, so they do not believe, do not abide, do not desire, which is the fourth fault. Their noble dharmas will not be completely purified. For those who believe that the person exists substantially, relying on the path of seeing and meditating on the noble dharmas, they will not abandon their afflictions and attain the manifestation of nirvana, which is the fifth fault. Those who say that the person exists substantially say that the Blessed One said in the sutras, the all-knowing person and

The person who understands and the person who abandons the burden, and the person who follows faith and the person who follows the Dharma, etc., many categories of persons are taught. If the person is not substantially existent, then why are so many persons taught? If it is said that because it is taught in this way, the person is substantially existent, then the various categories of persons that are taught are not meant to imply that such a person is substantially existent. Rather, it is to easily understand and distinguish or sever the differences between the states of complete defilement and complete purification, and the differences in the characteristics of the initial entry into both defilement and purification and their continuation. In order to easily understand these, they are indicated separately by the names or terms of persons, but it is not that this and that person are other substantially existent entities. How are the names of persons assigned? When the continuum of the five aggregates possesses the qualities of complete defilement, the name "person with complete defilement" is used to easily understand all the qualities that have changed in that state. It is merely that, apart from those qualities of the continuum of aggregates with defilement, it is not asserted that another defiled person is substantially existent. Similarly, one who possesses the qualities of complete purification is called a person with complete purification. There are also many differences in those who abide in the continuum of complete defilement, due to the differences of abiding in small, medium, and large complete defilement. It is said, "This person has small desire," and similarly, it is expressed with the terms medium and large. Similarly, due to the differences in afflictions such as hatred, this and that person are indicated in this way. Similarly, due to abiding in small, medium, and large complete purification, it is said, "A person who has attained a small path," and so on. One who practices exclusively in either virtue or non-virtue is called a person who is cut off in that and that direction. Similarly, a person who enters complete defilement and complete purification, and a person who possesses those and a person who does not possess them, and whether the faculties are sharp or dull, and a person who carries the burden of suffering and its origin, and a person who has obtained cessation through the path and abandoned the burden, and a person who abides on the path of accumulation, etc.
