If someone asks, why can't the views of worldly people completely cut off impermanence like a lamp, etc.? It is because the views of worldly people cannot instantly cut off impermanence, not because there is a difference between momentary and non-momentary existence in phenomena. Lightning, hail, clouds, lamps, and flowing water disappear without lasting long, and when they appear, it is easy to realize their momentary impermanence through the appearance of different forms. However, pillars, vases, rocky mountains, and diamonds, etc., even if they are momentary, as long as similar kinds appear without interruption, they create illusion and give rise to the inverted notion of permanence, thinking they are permanent. Things are not non-momentary, but permanent; this situation can never exist. Beings who are bound by the cause of illusion and have weak intelligence have a reversed view that is inconsistent with the reality of things, clinging to phenomena as pure, happy, permanent, and self. It is like a person afflicted with jaundice seeing a conch as yellow; like a wheel appearing when a torch is spun at night; like mistaking a rope for a snake in the dimness when the eyes are not clear. In this way, because there is an inverted view, samsara is also established. By eliminating the inverted view with wisdom that possesses valid cognition, liberation can also be infallibly achieved. If there were no inverted view and everything seen by worldly people was seen correctly, then either everyone would be liberated from the beginning, or no one would ever be liberated. But this is not the case, because defilement and purification must exist, so one should not take what worldly people see or do not see as the standard, but should rely on wisdom that possesses correct reasoning and valid cognition, so that the light of intelligence can expand even more. As it is said from "dryness and growth, etc." to "between questions," one should know that external phenomena are also momentary. Thus, the meaning of Vasubandhu's treatise, which was explained in detail by the teacher Sthiramati, has been completely summarized and clearly elucidated. Second, proving the absence of self in a person: It is explained by twelve verses such as "A person is imputed," dharma.

Within the four categories of *kyi sdom*, a detailed explanation is given regarding the difficult-to-understand aspects. Impermanence is presented as twofold: impermanence in the sense of non-existence and impermanence in the sense of momentary destruction. Among these, to prove momentary impermanence, fourteen general types of reasoning are listed. Specifically, fourteen types of reasoning are listed to prove the momentariness of internal formations, and about ten types of reasoning are directly shown to prove the momentariness of external formations. After this, to prove the absence of a self of a person, although proving the momentary impermanence of the five aggregates above implicitly proves that there is no single self of a person, worldly people and non-Buddhists still believe that there is an independent agent who bears the burden of the aggregates, called "self," "life," "person," "agent," and so on. They also believe that the aggregates are constantly nourished by one who possesses various skills and strength, such as "powerful one," "lord of power," "lord of beings," "maker of power," and thus are called "born of power," "son of power," and so on. They believe that this self exists and is the basis for bondage and liberation. The Sautrantika school and others also believe in the existence of a self, because the Blessed One also mentioned ordinary beings and stream-enterers, and said, "If one person appears in the world, he benefits and brings happiness to the whole world; this person is the Tathagata." Therefore, they believe that all sentient beings have a self. If there is no self, who would be bound in samsara, and who would be liberated? Who would accomplish the benefit of self and others, and who would enter the path? Therefore, they believe that a self exists. Non-Buddhists believe that the size of the self corresponds to the body. Some believe it is matter, some believe it is consciousness, some believe it is form, and some believe it is formless, and so on, with various views. They all believe that the general self is permanent and one. Furthermore, they speak of various fabrications based on desires such as being independent and being an agent. The sub-schools of the Sautrantika school also believe.
