Driven by the wisdom of knowledge, it is not like wishing for contaminated objects for one's own sake. Rather, it is the special wisdom that motivates the mind, so that one desires it in the heart and also makes aspirations in words. This is the cause or essence of aspiration. Here, wisdom arises from the cause of non-conceptual wisdom, or dedicating oneself to obtaining that wisdom is called being driven by wisdom, as stated in the commentary. The phrase "unequaled in all the grounds" indicates the ground of aspiration. Bodhisattvas making aspirations in each and every stage of the stage of faith and the ten grounds is not equal to the aspirations of worldly people or the aspirations of Hearers and Solitary Realizers. The benefit of aspiration is that it should be known that aspiration becomes the cause of accomplishing both one's own and others' benefit. That is, it accomplishes both one's own and others' benefit in this life, and it also accomplishes both one's own and others' benefit in future lives. Although no other actions are done through the doors of body and speech for that purpose, merely the mind of aspiration accomplishes as wished. Because the mind desires and aspires, it immediately brings forth results in this very life, and aspiration accomplishes all future purposes. The divisions of aspiration are that the aspirations of the Bodhisattvas in the stage of practice through faith are various. Because at that time, they have not realized the nature of the all-pervading Dharmadhatu, and having seen the faults of samsara, they wish to pacify those faults, and focusing on qualities, they wish to accomplish those qualities, so they make aspirations such as "In the future, may I become like this and that for the benefit of sentient beings," and so on. These aspirations are diverse and dissimilar. From entering the first ground onwards, aspirations become vast in order to manifestly accomplish the ten great aspirations. From then until the attainment of ultimate great enlightenment, the aspirations of the remaining grounds, such as the second ground, become increasingly vast, excellent, and pure. The function of aspiration is that, relying on aspiration, Bodhisattvas accomplish both their own and others' benefit. That is, the Bodhi
