Being ashamed of wrongdoing, and also feeling deeply ashamed of the decrease in generosity, etc., this is called being ashamed of increase and decrease. Similarly, being ashamed of practice and non-practice refers to steadfast Bodhisattvas who, with regard to the six perfections being familiar and relied upon in their own continuum, are lazy and do not practice, and with regard to the arising and compliance of afflictions such as desire and hatred, do not guard the doors of the six senses, and indulge in the objects of the five desires, they feel more ashamed than practicing. Third, the distinction between high and low lies in the fact that the shame and modesty of the desire realm, which is not the nature of equipoise, are small or low, and similarly, for equipoise, the form and formless realms also have shame and modesty, which are divided into three types: small, medium, and large, with small and medium being categorized as small. From the stage of aspiration and the first ground onwards, the lower ones are small in relation to their respective higher ones, and the higher ones are considered large in relation to the lower ones. The shame and modesty of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, who have inferior minds, are small because they only accomplish their own benefit. The "with self-grasping" from the first to the seventh ground refers to the pride with the aspect of effort, therefore, their shame is called inferior or small, which is from a comparative perspective. Other than that, it is superior or large, the shame of the ground of equipoise, and its even greater, the upper ground is large in relation to the lower ground, the shame and modesty of the Great Vehicle, and the non-self-grasping of the eighth ground and the three grounds, the shame and modesty of the spontaneously accomplished non-conceptual wisdom, because it is effortlessly and spontaneously accomplished, it is considered large or superior. Fourth, the faults of shame and shamelessness are that a wise person, if shameless, will enter improperly, thereby accepting the arising of afflictions such as greed, and engaging in non-virtue such as killing due to anger, leading to the deterioration of one's own discipline, causing harm to oneself in this life and the next, and also causing harm to other beings. Similarly, for virtuous deeds and activities that benefit beings, due to negligence and abandonment caused by forgetting, and due to the faults of generating pride, etc., leading to the discipline of beings and one's own continuum

regret, and because of its influence, one feels remorse, Suffering arises, thus one will lose happiness. Others will also see that you do not possess merits, and thus you will become inferior in terms of respect and gain. Because of shamelessness and lack of embarrassment, you will not become a person who has faith in the Dharma, nor will you become a sangha that protects the white Dharma, and you will not even become an object of special attention for the Buddha, so you will be left alone. The sons of the Buddha who are in accordance with the Dharma will condemn, saying, 'So-and-so is doing this unreasonable thing.' Worldly people will also say, 'In this life, you will get a bad reputation.' In the next life, you will fall into the evil realms and other places where there is no leisure, so the white Dharma that you have already obtained will be lost, and the white Dharma that you have not obtained before will also be lost. Therefore, his body will be in pain, and his mind will be occupied by unease, and he will not be able to calm down. Fifth, the benefits of shame are: Sons of the Buddha, those who have shame will never suffer these faults just mentioned. Because, this wise man will always be reborn in the heavens and among humans, which is the fruit of maturation. A person with wisdom, through shame, can quickly complete the accumulation of unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, which is the fruit of autonomy. Son of the Buddha, a person with shame will not feel tired in maturing sentient beings, which is the fruit of what a husband does. He is always separated from shamelessness and lack of embarrassment, which are the opposite of shame, which is the fruit of separation. He will not be separated from the antidote, shame, which is the fruit of the same cause. Therefore, Son of the Buddha, a person with shame will obtain these benefits. Sixth, praising those who have shame: Foolish ordinary people, even if they wash their bodies and wear beautiful clothes of good material, color, and shape, they cannot cover up the stains of faults such as greed that arise because of the lack of shame in their hearts with clothes. But the Son of the Buddha, the one with the garment of shame, even if he does not cover it from the outside with clothes, etc.
