With great reverence, offer extremely, and that offering is not just occasional, but always or constantly offered, so for the benefit of oneself and others, one will attain all worldly and transcendental accomplishments. Similarly, relying on a virtuous friend who possesses the qualities mentioned above and also those taught in the Sutras and Shastras, it is said that countless merits will arise, so by relying on such a virtuous friend who benefits oneself in this life and all future lives, one will attain all accomplishments. By benefiting sentient beings with the nature of universal love for all beings through the four immeasurables of loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity, one will also attain all accomplishments. It is said in the commentaries that offering and reliance mainly accomplish self-benefit, and the four immeasurables mainly accomplish the benefit of others. Generally, any one of them can accomplish both. From the Ornament of the Great Vehicle Sutras. The explanation of the eighteenth chapter, Offering, Reliance, and the Immeasurables, is completed. The nineteenth chapter, the Chapter on the Aspects Conducive to Enlightenment. The fourth chapter on the Aspects Conducive to Enlightenment mainly teaches meditation, so it has three aspects: cause, essence, and the limbs that differentiate it. First, it shows the accumulation of merit by abiding in the precepts as promised, and by having hearing and thinking. By means of the three aspects of knowing shame, steadfastness, and not being discouraged, one does not transgress the training. By means of knowing the teachings and knowing the world, one hears, and by means of the four ways of reliance and correct knowledge, one possesses the pure wisdom born of thought, so one should strive to accumulate the two accumulations. These are explained in order. First, knowing shame is from "Abandoning the opposing qualities of shame," to "The only one is the main one," which is explained in sixteen verses, which are also divided into the definition of knowing shame, where one feels shame, the classification of shame, the faults of shamelessness, and the

The benefits and praises of having shame, the signs of having shame and modesty, and the demonstration of supreme modesty, among the eight categories. First, knowing shame and having modesty is to abandon the two opposites of not knowing shame and being shameless, and to become the nature of knowing shame and having modesty. That is, in relation to oneself, it is called knowing shame, and in relation to others, it is called having modesty. If a Bodhisattva abandons the path of the Great Vehicle, which is the Dharma he has learned, and learns the conduct of Hearers and Solitary Realizers, he will feel ashamed, thinking, "This is not the conduct of a Bodhisattva." And he will feel modest, thinking, "Other Bodhisattvas will also reproach me." The nature and companions of these two are grasped by non-discriminating wisdom, which is not focusing on the characteristics of oneself, other sentient beings, and the three dharmas of shame and modesty. Focusing is the path of the inferior vehicle, and if one enters it, one will feel ashamed. That is, those who enter the vehicle of Hearers and Solitary Realizers, although they do not have the fault of afflictions, because they only seek their own benefit, their intention, wisdom, practice, result, and everything else are inferior to the Great Vehicle. Therefore, Bodhisattvas feel ashamed to enter it, focusing on that realm. The function is that the shame and modesty of Bodhisattvas ripen sentient beings. Such shame and modesty are stable, they belong to Bodhisattvas, because Hearers and Solitary Realizers abandon sentient beings who have become their relatives without regard, and only seek peace and happiness for themselves. In relation to Bodhisattvas, the scriptures say, "Those who do not cling even to their own sons, the Hearers are inferior. The auspicious Vajrapani who brings happiness to all sentient beings is virtuous." As it is said, they are those with little shame and modesty. Where does one feel ashamed? When the opposites of the six perfections, such as generosity, such as stinginess, increase in one's own mind, and the antidotes, such as generosity, decrease, Bodhisattvas will feel unbearable shame. In the world, those of high birth are ashamed of doing the actions of low birth, and Bodhisattvas feel ashamed of the arising of stinginess, etc.
