The diligence that causes complete transformation and practices the perfections is called the great diligence of attaining Buddhahood, because it surpasses the diligence of hearers and solitary realizers, and is therefore considered a special definition of "great benefit for others." Furthermore, the diligence of initially having a virtuous intention is the diligence of reverence; then, the diligence of fully engaging in virtuous deeds in the proper way, as promised, is the diligence of constant engagement, which are the two types distinguished by their essence. Also, the diligence of not being daunted in accomplishing the vast path and its results, the diligence of not being overcome by unfavorable factors, and the diligence of not being satisfied with antidotes. All these various classifications of diligence have been thoroughly taught by the Buddhas. Fourth, distinguishing from the perspective of the basis, diligence on the paths of the three vehicles relies on the individuals of hearers, solitary realizers, and bodhisattvas, because they possess, in sequence, weak intention and wisdom, moderate intention and wisdom, and extremely vast intention and wisdom. Therefore, the three distinctions of inferior, middling, and superior diligence are also from the perspective of other bases. The first two of these three focus only on their own benefit, so they are of small benefit; the latter focuses on accomplishing both self and other's benefit, so it is considered diligence with great benefit. Sixth, distinguishing from the perspective of counteracting the four obstacles, diligence is shown to overcome the four obstacles: the obstacle of declining resources, the obstruction of afflictions, the obstacle of laziness, and the obstacle of falling away from the qualities already attained. One who possesses diligence is not defeated by resources, because he accomplishes the cause of resources. One who possesses diligence is not defeated by afflictions, because he generates the antidote to afflictions. One who possesses diligence is not wearied by the practice of generosity and so on, because he possesses diligence that is not satisfied. One who possesses diligence does not fall away from any quality of dharma that has been attained, because he accomplishes it with the power of diligence until the state of Buddhahood. Tenth, the perfections mutually include each other, that is, one includes the others, so they can be mutually determined. This is explained by the verse "because they mutually include each other," and so on. Generosity and so on are different from their respective opposites.

Because everything else is actually complete within one thing, they are mutually inclusive; and because within one thing, six aspects can be clearly distinguished; and because according to the nature of Dharma, wherever there is any one of the perfections such as generosity, there will necessarily be all the others accordingly; and because generosity and so on are the reason or cause for the other perfections. Through these four reasons, it should be known that the six perfections are mutually determined in all aspects. So, how do they mutually contain each other? Generosity also includes abandoning miserliness, accepting generosity itself, and the discipline of accomplishing the benefit of sentient beings; when giving, being able to endure wrong actions, and being able to endure giving away possessions, this is the part of patience; having joy in giving and constantly striving, this is diligence; the mind focusing on one point, not being controlled by the distraction of opposing factors, from this aspect it is meditation; understanding the nature of the Dharma of generosity, such as pure and impure generosity, this is wisdom. Giving after obtaining the Samadhi of the Treasury of Space is meditation, and through it, Dharma giving is wisdom. Furthermore, the generosity perfection of a Bodhisattva is seized by non-conceptual wisdom, therefore it possesses the wisdom of realizing suchness, and the same should be understood for all the remaining perfections. Discipline is also included in the accumulation of virtue, all the perfections are included within it, because it is able to accomplish all of these. Guarding discipline for the benefit of others is actually also generosity. Because one possesses discipline, one is naturally able to endure the harm of others. Merely possessing discipline itself, one naturally possesses diligence. Merely discipline itself, possesses the part of meditation where the mind focuses on one point, and understanding the classification of discipline such as transgressions and non-transgressions, this is wisdom. And the wisdom of realizing the non-attachment to the three wheels of discipline as they are. Patience itself is acting for the benefit of others, benefiting others through patience, and also possessing the generosity of patience towards giving. Patience itself is abandoning the evil deeds of anger, and also accumulating the main merit of asceticism. Diligence towards patience is diligence. The perfections
