The Hinayana practitioners believe that afflictions are inherently existent, and through the path, they abandon afflictions, and after the afflictions are exhausted, they attain Nirvana. They cling to the faults and merits of Samsara and Nirvana, and with strong thoughts, they abandon Samsara and enter into peace. Bodhisattvas, because afflictions themselves have no self-nature, rely on the skillful means of afflictions themselves giving liberation, and by the power of having non-discriminating wisdom, although they do not completely abandon Samsara, they are not defiled by the faults of Samsara, and they practice the conduct of Bodhisattvas. In the end, they attain Nirvana that does not abide in existence or peace. Therefore, they explain the way to realize the equality of Samsara and Nirvana with non-objective wisdom that does not discriminate. As it is said in the Hundred Thousand Prajnaparamita Sutra: "I do not say that there is any other liberation from desire other than desire itself." The same is said for hatred and ignorance. What is said is that desire itself can liberate from desire, and not another liberation. This has a profound meaning, because there is no other Dharma other than the Dharmadhatu itself. The reality, essence, or nature of all Dharmas is definitely the Dharmadhatu Suchness itself, and there is not even a particle of Dharma that is different from it. Therefore, the Buddhas think that liberation from desire, etc., is desire, etc., and keep this in mind and declare it in this way. Like this, if you know that the nature of afflictions is originally pure, and thus know that afflictions themselves can self-liberate afflictions, then you do not need to look for other antidotes. If you think that there is an affliction that cannot be liberated by its own nature, then no one can liberate it, and it cannot be abandoned. Therefore, just as the definitive meaning Sutras of the Characteristic Vehicle teach that all Dharmas are originally without bondage or liberation, it is also said in the Result Vajrayana Vehicle, in the second chapter of the Hevajra Tantra, the Chapter on Pure Yoga: "It must be said that the purity of all things is Suchness," etc., and "Self-awareness and self-nature are pure, purity is not liberated by others," etc. These sayings have the same intention and are not different. Similarly, the teaching that ignorance and Bodhi are the same is also the nature of the Dharma.

Because there is no dharma other than emptiness, all afflictions are shown to be inherently enlightened. Intelligent Bodhisattvas know that the Buddha's intention is such, and they approve of it. As stated in the sutras, afflictions are the basis of Bodhi Vajra, and so on. If afflictions themselves can be liberated from afflictions, then all beings affected by afflictions should be able to be liberated. Why is this not the case? This is because they do not understand the Buddha's intention as it is. They are bound because they do not understand the suchness of attachment and other dharmas, and they cling to their characteristics. Because Bodhisattvas understand the suchness of attachment and other dharmas, which is the nature of the Dharmadhatu, and they enter into it as it is. Therefore, attachment and other dharmas can be liberated from ordinary self-characteristics. Therefore, attachment and other dharmas can be liberated from those attachments and other dharmas. Because they do not cling to the objects of desire and their characteristics, neither attachment nor hatred arises. Then, after understanding the nature of attachment and other dharmas, they realize the meaning of being originally ceased and originally unborn, and they attain the wisdom of the knowledge of cessation and non-arising, and attain great Bodhi. If it is thought that the essence of attachment and other dharmas exists, but one day it will cease, and it will no longer arise in one's own mind-stream, then the Bodhi of the Shravakas is a delusion about suchness. As stated in the Ornament for Clear Realization: 'Other dharmas also exist, and they are also shown in the knowable realm. Wherever the cessation of obscurations is mentioned, I am amazed by this.' Similarly, the noble Asanga, in the Compendium of the Great Vehicle, also said in the profound verses of the Dharmakaya: 'For those who possess vast means, afflictions are transformed into limbs of Bodhi, and Samsara is also the nature of peace. Therefore, the Tathagata is inconceivable.' In this way, Samsara is Nirvana, and afflictions are transformed into limbs or paths of Bodhi. Even in the nominal vehicle, it is clearly shown that if one does not realize this with wisdom, one cannot attain the great Bodhi that does not abide in the extremes of existence and peace. In the Fruition Vehicle, it is
