There are four flexible intentions in translation. If we state their meanings in order, it is with the intention of leading those Śrāvakas who cannot grasp the absence of self in phenomena onto the path of liberation. Therefore, the teaching that the aggregates and other phenomena of the absence of self of a person exist refers to the fact that the imputational person does not exist, and that dependent arising phenomena of other-power exist only nominally. And when it is said that there is no essence, no birth, and so on, it is not said that the phenomena that exist nominally are completely non-existent, nor that there is no appearance of arising and ceasing, but rather it refers to a flexible intention regarding the characteristic or essence of ultimate reality. For example, among the three natures, the imputational, the other-powered, and the thoroughly established, the nature or characteristic of the imputational is completely non-existent, therefore it is without characteristics. Although there is an appearance of arising and ceasing in the other-powered mind and mental factors that appear as places, things, bodies, etc., it appears that way due to the power of dependent arising of causes and conditions, but it does not arise or cease by its own essence, therefore birth is without essence. The thoroughly established is naturally beyond sorrow, peaceful, empty, the ultimate reality without essence. The flexible intention of the antidote is, as before, for the purpose of subduing the faults in the continuum of the person, such as the previous Buddha Vipaśyin, etc., like the eight that will be explained below. The flexible intention of translation refers to not being literal, but rather intending the profound object of expression. As it is said, "Knowing the unreal as real, abiding in the reversed, being extremely afflicted by afflictions, one will attain supreme enlightenment." And so on. If this statement is taken literally, it seems to indicate the cause of not attaining enlightenment. But in reality, the word "sara" can refer to both distraction and essence, so when the negative "a" is added before it, it becomes "asara," meaning without distraction, that is, the understanding or knowledge of higher mind training is the essence. Considering purity, pleasure, permanence, and self as the four inversions is a reversed clinging to things. Turning away from that reversal is abiding in the higher wisdom training of knowing impermanence, suffering, impurity, and selflessness. And for the sake of sentient beings, with the afflictions of long-term asceticism

It is said that supreme enlightenment is attained by being extremely afflicted. In the Great Commentary, the first three verses are associated with adhimukticarya (practice of aspiration), the path of seeing, and meditation. Even if they are associated, it is fine, and even if they are not separately associated, it is sufficient to associate them with the three: samadhi, wisdom, and diligence. Thus, this indirect intention has four aspects. Secondly, considering the equality of the Dharmakaya of all Buddhas, the King Shakya said, "I myself became the Buddha Vipashyin at that time," like that. Considering another meaning of the ultimate meaning, it is said that all dharmas are without self-nature, unarisen, unceasing, primordially peaceful, and naturally in nirvana. Similarly, considering another time, it is said that lazy people who cannot do even a little bit of virtue can be born in the pure land of the Tathagata Amitabha just by making aspirations, which is considering being born in another lifetime. Considering the thoughts of individuals, praising those who are able to give extensively, etc., and for some who think that giving a little is enough, disparaging giving, etc., or showing that it is not very wonderful. Like giving, one is enough, and for those who cling to that one as supreme, compared to ethics, giving is inferior and ethics are praised as superior, like that. Thus, the four kinds of intentions should be understood. These statements with intentions occur very often, as shown in the condensed collection. Thirdly, as an antidote to the eight obscurations, the supreme Mahayana Dharma is taught, such as the King Shakya who appeared in the age of one hundred years of life, who was short in stature and whose life did not exceed eighty years, and whose field of objects was also impure, and the beings to be tamed were also endowed with the five degenerations. The Buddhas Vipashyin, etc., appeared in the auspicious age of the complete kalpa, those are supreme. Our own teacher is inferior to those, as an antidote to despising the Buddha in this way, it is said, "I became the Buddha Vipashyin at that time and at that moment," because all Buddhas are equal in the Dharmakaya, so there is no good or bad, this is how it is considered, so that the beings to be tamed also think that Vipashyin is also the teacher, like this, without clinging to high or low. Despising the Dharma,
