It should be understood as it has been stated. Like this, relying solely on the reasoning of the sevenfold chariot, one can comprehend that this aggregate, which is of the nature of multiplicity and impermanence, is merely labeled as "I," but the "I" itself has no inherent existence. From now on, one can understand this through one's own experience. In this way, if one understands through reasoning and becomes accustomed to it, then the ultimate of clear appearance may also arise. Because what is understood is the correct meaning, just like seeing impermanence and other true aspects directly. If one sees these, through habituation, why would one not abandon the innate self-grasping? If one does not abandon it, then the understanding of selflessness will also become like it. If one thinks that the self-grasping will not be reversed because the refutation of the truth-grasping of one's own continuum's aggregates has not been refuted, then, even if the object of clinging of the innate self-grasping is not just the "I" but must be the aggregates, it has been clearly stated that it is not so, and the difference that in conventional terms, the self is not substantially existent but the aggregates are substantially existent is reasonable. Understanding that both the object and the self are empty, therefore saying that both of these graspings will be reversed is the way of speaking logically. If one understands that the object is empty, but the basis of imputation itself has not changed, therefore the grasping of it will not be reversed, then, even if one understands that all phenomena are selfless, if all appearances have not changed, then it will also be difficult to reverse the truth-grasping and attachment, etc. If one thinks that because appearance itself is also empty, therefore one does not cling to it, and mere appearance itself does not generate truth-grasping, then, even if one merely grasps the aggregates as true, if one does not grasp them as "I," then merely grasping the aggregates does not require self-grasping, because the objects and aspects of these two are different. In the auto-commentary, it says: As it is said in the "Garland of Jewels": As long as there is grasping of the aggregates, then there is self-grasping. If there is self-grasping, then there is also karma, and from karma comes rebirth. The three paths without beginning, end, or middle, the wheel of samsara is like a fire wheel, mutually having causes, this will become samsara. Because it cannot be obtained in oneself and others, and in the three times, therefore, the self-grasping will be exhausted. After that, there are karma and rebirth, etc. The meaning of what is said is that even if the innate self-grasping arises due to grasping the basis of imputation, the aggregates, as true, one must understand that the aggregates are of the nature of multiplicity and impermanence, until one understands the partless particles, and merely understand the gross selflessness of the aggregates.

Therefore, it is able to understand the subtle selflessness of persons. The reason is that even if many insignificant dharmas are admitted to exist, one will not cling to them, because when one directly sees that they are numerous and impermanent, one will directly see that the self is merely imputed based on them, and is not established by its own nature, because these dharmas that serve as the basis of imputation are incompatible with the object of clinging to a self. For example, even if one does not know that there is no rope, it is possible to eliminate the clinging to a snake. Therefore, as long as there is clinging to the aggregates as a single, unified entity, that person will have self-grasping. As it says in the Ratnavali: "Because the aggregate is meaningless, form is also meaningless." etc., which extensively explains how to prove through reasoning that the aggregates that appear as objects of the senses are divisible and do not have the nature of being aggregated. The autocommentary says: "Is it only Bodhisattvas who see it as being without inherent existence in this way?" Answer: It is not the case, because it is said with reference to the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. How is it known? Answer: It should be said that only at the end is it made with reference to the Bodhisattvas. "The Bodhisattva also, having seen thus, certainly desires enlightenment. However, he connects existence to enlightenment with compassion." etc. It is said. In the sutras taught to the Shravakas, it is also said: "In order to eliminate the afflictive obscurations of the Shravakas, form is like a bubble, feeling is like a water bubble, perception is like a mirage, formations are like a plantain tree, consciousness is like an illusion, so said the Kinsman of the Sun." etc., with examples such as bubbles, water bubbles, mirage water, plantain tree trunks, and illusions, it is certain that the formations are being examined. The meaning is that it is necessary to realize that the gross aggregates are without inherent existence, and this is said with reference to the Shravakas. As it is said in "The Bodhisattva also, having seen thus," etc., and as it is also said in the sutras, "Form is like a bubble," etc., these all explain that this is the Dharma of the Shravaka vehicle.
