Therefore, it is free from both permanence and impermanence. The very non-existence of the nature of the six, such as the eye, is considered to be inner emptiness, and there is not the slightest bit of emptiness or non-emptiness. That is to say, the eye is empty by the eye. Where is it empty? The eye is empty. By what is it empty? It is also the eye. That eye, which is conceived as the eye, is empty by itself. If the eye is not empty by the eye, but is empty by other dharmas such as true appearance, then it cannot be considered empty. The self-commentary says: Therefore, saying that the eye, etc., are empty by the eye, etc., clarifies the emptiness of self-nature, but it does not mean that the eye is separated from the inner agent, or is empty of the grasper and the grasped, it is not an emptiness where one does not exist for the other. So it is said. To this, some people now say that the eye is not empty by the eye, but is empty by truth. To this, what is it? Does this truth mean that the eye is truly established? Or does it refer to something that is not the eye? That something that is not the eye is not truly established in the eye, any ordinary person understands, but what is the use of that? If the eye itself is not truly established on the eye, then what is that non-empty eye that remains in its place for you? If you say it is just an appearance, then if the appearance as the eye becomes true, then everything that has become one with it will disappear like a burnt wooden cart, and the non-empty eye that remains in its place is ridiculous. If that is the case, even if you say you do not know the appearance, it is because you do not believe in the meaning of emptiness, dependent arising, and union, so there is a true emptiness in one eye, and a non-empty eye in one eye. Even if the truth is refuted, the eye has not been refuted, then it is not the same as being truly established. If it is the same, one should be refuted if the other is refuted. If they are different, what is the use of refuting the truth for the eye? The consciousness of eye-grasping will never be harmed by reason, this is admitted. In this way, the eye is not empty by the eye, or it is not helpful to appearance. If it helps, it will harm emptiness. The eye itself is empty, and there is no harm to appearance. It is reasonable for appearance to be empty, because this is the Madhyamaka school. Therefore, one should abandon this promise that is not the meaning of words, which can only please fools, and which the wise are ashamed to look at. Second, for what reason is the nature of form emptiness, so form is empty by form, gross form, etc.

All things below, such as sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharmas, are also the same. The absence of inherent existence in form and so on is considered external emptiness. Third, the five sense faculties and their bases, which are included in the stream of consciousness, are included by consciousness but not by the faculties, so they are both internal and external. Alternatively, the self-commentary says: Both internal and external dharmas are without inherent existence, which is internal and external emptiness. Fourth, all phenomena, conditioned and unconditioned, are without inherent existence. The truly wise Buddha declared this to be emptiness. The basis of emptiness, emptiness itself, is also considered empty in its own nature of emptiness. Therefore, whatever emptiness is called emptiness is considered the emptiness of emptiness. The purpose is to dispel the clinging of beings who have a mind of true substance to emptiness. Thus: To destroy all conceptualizations, He showed the nectar of emptiness. For whomever there is clinging to that, You rebuke that one. So it is said. Secondly, there are four emptinesses: great emptiness, ultimate emptiness, conditioned emptiness, and unconditioned emptiness. First, sentient beings and the container world, such as the east, are all pervasive. Immeasurable love and so on are also practiced by meditating on the pervasiveness of the directions by example, because the example directions are without end, so the directions are also great. These ten directions, such as the east, are empty of directions, which is great emptiness, which is said to dispel the clinging of the Vaibhashikas and others who consider the directions to be permanent substances. Second, Nirvana is the highest purpose to be sought by a person, so the ultimate cessation of Nirvana is the Dharmakaya. The emptiness of the Dharmakaya is the ultimate emptiness, the purpose of which is to dispel the clinging to the cessation of the Nirvana of the Hearers as real or having a substantial mind. With the wisdom of the ultimate Dharmakaya, the Buddha showed the ultimate emptiness. Third, because it arises from causes and conditions, these three realms are definitely conditioned phenomena. These three realms are its emptiness.
