Ra. Ignorance If it exists, karma exists; if it does not exist, karma will not arise. Therefore, regarding ignorance as something to be abandoned is a doubt arising from the realization of Hearers, Solitary Realizers, etc., who are not proficient in the true nature of things. However, the wise Madhyamikas say, "Conditioned by ignorance, there is action." They not only know that action is without self-nature, but also realize the suchness of dependent origination. Like the sun of excellent wisdom dispelling ignorance like thick darkness, they no longer create karma, and thus are liberated from samsara. Even at the moment when the cause of this appearance leads to a reversed appearance, because it appears but has no self-nature, they understand emptiness without the need to abandon or establish anything, and thus attain liberation. They do not cling to the cause of appearance as something to be abandoned. Like the sun of excellent wisdom seeing the nature of things as they are, dispelling the thick darkness of clinging to reality, these wise ones understand that all causes and effects, and all that should be abandoned and cultivated, are empty of self-nature, and thus attain liberation, not because ignorance is exhausted. Second, if there is not even a slight basis, then it will not appear even in conventional terms. To refute this argument, there are two parts: the actual argument and the answer to the argument. The first part is: If form and other things are not definitely existent in the ultimate sense, then in conventional terms they will become non-existent like the son of a barren woman. Therefore, form and other things are indeed self-existent. The second part is divided into: showing the uncertainty of the argument through examples, and actually showing that the absence of self-arising and appearance in conventional terms are not contradictory. The first part is divided into: the teaching and the explanation. First, for those whose eyes are impaired by dazzling or taking Datura flowers, etc., the hairs, double images, elephants, etc. that they see are the same as the son of a barren woman, and are therefore unborn. If you know the appearance and non-appearance of the unborn, then for you, the proponent of reality, since you can see the appearance of non-existent hairs, why can't you see rabbit horns, the son of a barren woman, etc.? You should be challenged in this way. From then on, those whose minds are blinded by the continuous dizziness of ignorance should be refuted and examined. If you do not know that this thing does not exist in the ultimate sense, you will not know that it will appear in this way.

In considering the debate, first, even if it does not arise in the ultimate truth, it is reasonable that there is only appearance. For example, initially, when examining on combs, etc., it seems that there is nothing, but the child of the vulva is not seen, but the comb is seen. If it is said that if there is no birth, it will not be seen, this statement is uncertain, because even if there is no birth, it can be seen. Realists or those belonging to the side of realists say: If all dharmas are realized to be without objects and without acceptance or rejection, then how do acts of giving with the desire for benefit arise, how to practice virtue and abandon evil, all must be based on objects to accept or reject. To this, listen, you who have not experienced understanding of reality: In reality, by realizing the equality of no object and no acceptance or rejection, how is it necessary to block the object in mere conventional appearance? Although it appears as various unmixed dharmas such as samsara, nirvana, acceptance and rejection, negation and establishment, the reality of that appearance does not deviate from the true equality of no object. If such a reality is realized, compassion will naturally arise for sentient beings who have not realized it in this way, just like the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. In name, although one practices acceptance and rejection of virtue and abandoning evil, in reality, it is not necessary to cling to having acceptance and rejection and objects, nor is it necessary that because there are no such objects in reality, there will be no objects and acceptance or rejection in name, these two are not contradictory. The reason why there are no objects in reality is these nominal dharmas, if not, then their reality will become not like that. Therefore, on the basis of realizing the nature of phenomena and phenomena without contradiction, the arising of objectless love, etc., is the extremely pure and correct Mahayana path. If there is no object in reality, but there is an object in name, if either of these two does not exist and becomes one-sided, then the two truths distinguished by phenomena and the nature of phenomena will not exist. Or, like nominal objects, objectlessness without two dharmas is impossible, so the ultimate truth will not exist. Or, like objectlessness without any two dharmas in reality, all two dharmas in name will not appear, but will only become the sole ultimate truth. Therefore, although non-dual, it appears as two, and although non-dual, it appears as an object, these two exist without contradiction, this is the two truths.
