It arises from itself because it exists. The actions of a potter, etc., which become other, are the producers of clay pots, so they also arise from others. Therefore, it arises from both. Just as it is outside, so too inside, it arises from both self and other. Among these, life, which is the person and self, and powers, etc., which are non-life, the Dharma that achieves eminence and definite goodness, and the non-Dharma that reverses it, the outflows of afflictions, the vows that prevent misconduct, happiness, and suffering, and the force of formation that arises from knowledge and becomes the cause of knowledge, by classifying the nine meanings of words, love exists as the nature of life in other lifetimes as well, and therefore takes this present life, so it arises from itself. Because love and life are not other. Moreover, love arises from one's own parents, Dharma and non-Dharma, outflows, etc., which become other, so it also arises from others. Therefore, it is said that there is no fault in saying that it arises from each of self and other. Thus, the naked ones who say that it arises from both self and other are not of the nature of reason, because why? Because the faults that were previously stated for the arising of both self and other will fall upon them all at once. Second, arising from both is not established in the world, nor is it accepted in reality, not only is it not established, but because it is not established that it arises from each. For example, if one sesame seed can produce oil, then many can also produce oil. If each grain of sand has no power, then many do not have the power. Fourth, in refuting causelessness, there are two parts: the statement of the prior party and the refutation of it. First, according to the materialists who say that things arise from causelessness, if so, the results do not depend on the cause, without cause and non-cause, without time and non-time, they would always arise from everything, because they can arise without dependence. To this, the prior party is, if the materialists were to view that it arises only from causelessness, that is, if they were to assert that things arise from causelessness, then it would be so. Second, there are two parts: general refutation of causelessness, and specific refutation of no afterlife. First, if these results exist, they will be refuted by being always existent, etc., and causelessness.

Two refutations by means of impermanence, etc. In the first, there are two faults: permanence and arising from everything. First, at that time, all things would necessarily exist at all times, because they do not depend on time and are without cause. Second, everything would arise from everything that is not a cause, because there is no dependence. The second has two refutations: the refutation that one would necessarily not accumulate causes for the sake of results, and the refutation that all things in the world are always non-existent like flowers in the sky. First, it contradicts what is seen. If it does not depend on the cause, then for the sake of the result arising, this world would not collect or accumulate seeds and other causes by means of hundreds of thousands of hardships, because that cause does not produce the result, and the result is without cause. Second, if in one way or another, beings are empty of cause, then because there is no cause, the world, which is its result, should also not exist. Just as one cannot grasp the scent and color of a lotus in the sky, all phenomena should also be ungraspable. If it is not like that, but this extremely bright world is manifestly apprehended by the senses, then just as one's own blue consciousness arises from blue, know that this world also arises from a cause. Second, refuting the absence of another world, showing that the Carvaka's mind, which thinks that there is no other world, is not a valid cognition, and showing that it is a reversed mind. The first is: that Carvaka is the four elements themselves, namely earth, water, fire, and wind. These four are the cause of all beings, because from the distinction of their complete ripening, the forms of various kinds such as lotuses and Nepali apples, as well as peacocks and geese, and not only that, but the wisdom that discerns the nature of things also arises from that alone, just as the power of intoxication arises from the distinction of the complete transformation of the special ingredients mixed in wine, the great elements such as softness Wisdom arises from the complete ripening of special ingredients, in order to completely cut off the object. Therefore, all internal and external things arise only from the cause of this world.
