It does not change; if it changes, it must be refuted by the analysis of terms, just as sound is permanent. In the reductio ad absurdum, it is implicitly understood that the mind is the knower itself, just as the lamp is the illuminator, and the sword is the cutter. It is sufficient for the mind to know the object, simply by establishing that it knows itself. It is sufficient for the six consciousnesses to know the object and time, even if the term self-awareness is not used. In reality, the lamp is established without the need for another illuminator, but it is not self-illuminating, because it is not obscured by darkness. If it were self-aware, it would be like darkness obscuring itself, or a sword cutting itself; this is the ultimate analysis. The establishment of the term self-awareness is undeniable and cannot be refuted, but there is no need to refute the correspondence between the established term and its meaning. Second, the way in which self-awareness is not established by direct perception. For that reason, if there is no self-awareness, by what will your other-powered object be apprehended? The cutter of the tree is the agent, the tree as the object, and the act of cutting the tree are not one. Therefore, it is not reasonable or appropriate for it to apprehend itself, just as positing parts on a partless atom is like having parts, otherwise, just as the pot is not visible, the knowable and the knower will not appear, and if they appear, they will not become one. Second, the way in which it is not reasonable to assert existence without a valid cognition that ascertains existence. If one asserts that the other-powered entity of self-nature, which is unborn by nature and not known by valid cognition, exists, even if the other-powered and things with the same characteristics are the same, then why is it not reasonable to consider the son of a barren woman to exist? Other Mind-Only proponents, what harm has the son of a barren woman caused you, that without the need for a valid cognition to establish existence, you say that the inexpressible son of a barren woman exists, who has transcended the object of elaboration and become the object of the wisdom of the noble ones? Second, showing the falling away from the two truths. If that is the case, when the other-powered is not established, if the other-powered does not exist at all, then what will become the cause of the conventional? In that case, because there is no cause, the conventional will necessarily not exist. Because things become the cause of the establishment of existence. Because the other-powered as the cause is not established, one falls away from the ultimate, which holds that the other-powered is established in the ultimate. Therefore,

Therefore, since there is no cause for designation, it is shown to fall away from designation. If it were others, such as the Mind-Only school, due to clinging to a mere portion of the other-powered substance, then all the establishments of feelings and so on that arise from the objects of perception, such as external forms and so on, as well as things like "take this" and "put that" that are known in the world, would become an admission that conventional truth has no cause, and therefore would be destroyed, that is, eliminated. Thirdly, it is divided into: merely proclaiming that the pure path of liberation is solely the system of Nagarjuna; and establishing its rationality, in two parts. The first part is distinguishing the two truths without error. From the perspective of the path of the teacher Nagarjuna, for outsiders, there is no principal method for attaining the peace of nirvana. The second part is divided into: the reason why one cannot be liberated without understanding the establishment of the two truths without error; and the reason why one cannot realize suchness without knowing the two truths as they are, in two parts. First, the reason is that if great nirvana arises from realizing the two truths without error, then those who do not hold the teacher's system will fall away from conventional truth and suchness, the ultimate truth, and since they fall away from these, there is no possibility of achieving liberation until they abandon these. Second, how can the establishment of the non-erroneous conventional truth become a method for realizing the ultimate truth? The ultimate truth is dependent on knowing the conventional truth, because what is called the ultimate truth is also the nature of the conventional. If there is no conventional, then the ultimate is impossible in any way, therefore, abandoning the conventional and attaining the ultimate is impossible in any way, because these two are mutually dependent and can never be separated. The previously stated realization of the ultimate truth as it is, becomes the means of arising, if one cannot distinguish the truth of the means and the means of arising in any way, then that is entering a wrong path due to inverted conceptualization. In the system of Chandrakirti, since dependent arising and emptiness appear as the same meaning, therefore, how this appearance appears as emptiness, one does not add distinctions such as truly established, because adding these is unnecessary. Why? If one adds the ultimate and truly established, then some things that cannot be negated will be left over, if one says that, then what is left over when this appearance is empty of all elaboration? Since nothing is left over, there is no nihilistic view, this appearance
