Establishing a tenet, yet not abandoning the elaboration of negation, although admitting that the samadhi without grasping is ignorance. However, even if one is accustomed to the emptiness that refutes the extreme of true existence for hundreds of kalpas, it cannot eliminate the appearance of duality. The reasoning of the Madhyamaka school that examines the ultimate truth can prevent the clinging to reality, but this cannot prevent it. Instead, it transforms the object to be refuted into the single "true existence" and clings to it, making the mind far from the opportunity to realize the emptiness of all elaborations. It has become a place of hundreds of contradictions that contradict the meaning of all pure systems. The emptiness of the nature of all dharmas, or the unborn reality, is established by the reason of the establisher, such as one and many. Therefore, when it is established that it cannot be thought of by these reasons, it is said that all dharmas are without self-nature, and it must be understood in this way. However, no matter what dharma, even if it cannot be examined by the analysis of meaning, it cannot be established that it is empty. If it is said that it is made empty by "true existence", then "true existence" is the object to be refuted, and emptiness is the object to be established. If all dharmas should become the object to be established that is unattainable and the object to be established that is empty, then it must be established that only "true existence" is unattainable and empty. If one does not examine vases and so on with reasoning such as one and many, but only examines "true existence", then "true existence" without distinguishing any dharma is like a rabbit's horn, just a name that is explained by name, and its meaning is empty. Then, how can it be examined by the analysis of meaning when it is different from vases and so on? The opponent thinks like this: For example, when a rope is mistaken for a snake, the basis for imposing the snake on it is the rope. The mind that grasps the rope as a snake grasps the rope itself as a snake, not grasping something other than the rope as a snake. Therefore, when one realizes that there is no snake by examining whether there is a snake on this basis, the rope itself exists, and it is empty of other dharmas—the snake. Although the mind that grasps the rope as a snake has never seen a snake, if one examines this illusion, one must see that there is no snake by examining the rope itself. And, this rope is empty of the snake, and also empty of other dharmas, but the rope itself is not empty. The way in which vases and so on are empty of "true existence" is similar to this.
