If it is said that it is one time or simultaneous, both are possible, but in this example, the seed and the sprout do not exist simultaneously, so the similarity with the example does not exist. The two ends of the scale are the actions of things happening simultaneously, but in the example, the seed and the sprout do not exist simultaneously, so the example and the meaning are not the same. The reason is that if the sprout that is growing is manifesting towards birth, then it is the future, so it does not exist now. The seed that is disappearing, although it exists, is towards the direction of destruction. If it is thought that it has not completely disappeared now. In short, as long as the seed exists, the sprout is the future. The sprout has been formed, and the seed has been exhausted and disappeared, so these two can never exist simultaneously in the same instant, then the seed and the sprout How can it be similar to a scale? It is not similar. Another mistake is that even if there is no sprout, it is thought that there is its action, which is growth. This is also not possible. Because this action, which is growth, if there is no sprout on which the agent relies, then it is also impossible in reason. If it is said that in the holy "Rice Seedling Sutra" it says: "Just like the rise and fall of a scale, in the same instant, the seed disappears at the same time that the sprout arises." Is this not an example of a scale? Therefore, if it is said that the seed and the sprout are considered to be like the rise and fall of a scale, then it should not be prevented, this is correct, but that sutra is not to explain other-origination and his own self-nature origination. What is prevented here is the origination that is established by one's own self-nature, not just preventing the sprout from arising from the seed. Therefore, in short, the sutra refers to the actions of cause and effect arising and ceasing simultaneously, not to the actions of cause and effect arising and ceasing simultaneously that are established by self-nature. If it is like the former, only the actions are the same, the cause and effect do not necessarily have to be simultaneous. If it is the latter, if the actions are the same, the cause and effect must also be simultaneous. Second, refuting other-origination of simultaneous cause and effect: If it is thought that cause and effect have a sequence, other-origination is unreasonable, but if it is simultaneous, it is reasonable. Then this is also unreasonable, for the wisdom of the eye, that is, consciousness, as its own generator, is simultaneous with itself. The eye faculty, etc., and forms, etc., and feelings and sensations, etc., that arise together with oneself. If the result is established as other, then if it exists simultaneously with the cause, then it will also happen to things that existed before, so it is not needed.

If something exists, what is it? If the result does not exist when the cause exists, then this fault has already been discussed in the case of unequal cause and effect. Third, refuting by examining the result in four ways. If the cause is the producer, the result to be produced, the cause that produces other things, then does it produce a result that exists by its own nature? Or does it produce something that does not exist, both, or neither? If it exists, why is a producer needed? Because it has already been produced and will not be produced again. For something that does not exist, what can that cause do? Like the cause of a rabbit's horn. For something that is both, what can it do? Because the two cannot exist together. For something that is neither, what can it do? Because it is impossible for it to be neither of the two. Second, in order to eliminate the worldly harm to the above refutation, there are two parts: presenting the argument of worldly harm and explaining its answer. The first part is: If any worldly person abides only in his own view and considers the worldly view to be reliable, then because it is very powerful, what can you do by stating here that there is no other-birth? Because it cannot be refuted, because it is obvious. Worldly people also understand that other arises from other, so if other-birth exists, what kind of reasoning is needed to prove it? Because it is obvious. The second part is: Even if worldly people admit other-birth, there are ways in which worldly people do not cause harm, and even in worldly conventions there is no other-birth that is established by its own nature, so there are two ways in which worldly people do not cause harm. The first part is divided into: briefly explaining the classification of the two truths by distinguishing between the object and the subject that are not inverted and inverted; explaining it in detail; and for these, summarizing these three parts by explaining the difference between what the world does not harm and what it harms. First, for those who do not know the correct meaning of the scriptures, and who are attached to phenomena due to the maturation of the habit of clinging to truth from beginningless time, who are not familiar with the principle of no self-nature, and who rely on the crude methods of worldly harm, if many worldly ways of arising are not explained, the crude attacks of worldly harm cannot be avoided. Therefore, for such an object, the world will cause harm, that is, the object of harm.
