Therefore, for any phenomenon of designation, if it cannot be proven by analysis, it is named as unreal. If it can be proven by analysis, it is named as truly established. Therefore, what is to be refuted by the reasoning that establishes emptiness is true establishment. Therefore, the emptiness in which the self-nature of phenomena is not established, and the appearance of dependent arising appear as one without contradiction, is the establishment of emptiness free from elaboration. Therefore, one should never say that a phenomenon that exists in designation is not obstructed or empty by meaning analysis. If one says so, even if only the name of unreality is established, emptiness without any inversion will not be established at all. And, as with the views of the realists, it will ultimately revert to the basis of establishing true establishment. Therefore, when those who say so refute true establishment, they rely on signs such as being separate from one, etc., to establish this way, even though they do not want all phenomena to be truly established, until they abandon the acceptance of other-emptiness where the self-nature of phenomena is not empty, this acceptance will necessarily lead to the intellectual impact of having to accept true establishment as well. Je Tsongkhapa's intellectual impact of placing the Svatantrika in the ranks of the realists, although the expression is different from this, does not go beyond this meaning. Because the Svatantrika does not prevent self-establishment, but admits to preventing true establishment, so the self-establishment of designation, according to my view, the pot, etc., of designation, although not empty of the pot, etc., are empty of truth. Therefore, when preventing the self-nature and arising, etc., of designation, showing it by adding the distinction of true establishment, if, upon analysis by reason, there is something in the self-nature of designation that cannot be obstructed or refuted by meaning analysis, then it will become truly established. Therefore, the phenomenon of designation itself is empty of true establishment, and is considered not empty of being established by its own characteristic. If the analysis of ultimate truth cannot refute it, it will become truly established. Even if true establishment is not accepted, but the acceptance that one's own characteristic is not obstructed by meaning analysis, this will become truly established against one's will. Thus it is said. They say that these are Madhyamikas. If that is the case, then it will become both a realist and a Madhyamika, and if one thinks that this is unreasonable, then there is no fault. Because even though these people accept self-nature, they act as if they do not prevent it.

Therefore, if one acknowledges the inherent nature of conventional terms, and if the true establishment of all phenomena is thoroughly refuted, then, because it is established that there is nothing that is not empty, one falls into self-contradiction, leading to the fault of engaging with realists. However, if one can prove that conventional phenomena lack inherent existence through reasoning such as the refutation of one and many, then in reality, one is a Madhyamika. As it is said, even those who assert the emptiness of other (gzhan stong) do not fall from being Madhyamikas if they realize through Madhyamika reasoning that no phenomenon has true establishment. If, according to the way conventional terms are applied, one strongly clings and asserts that things like pots are not empty from their own nature, then this obstructs the realization of emptiness, dependent origination, and non-duality. If the method of analysis is flawed, there is a risk of erring and being no different from realists. No matter how conventional terms are applied, if one considers the various ways of explaining the scriptures and all phenomena do not go beyond being empty of their own nature, then it is possible to generate certainty about emptiness, dependent origination, and non-duality. However, if one examines through meaningful analysis, although one accepts that the eye is empty of the eye, and follows the teachings of the great Madhyamika teachers, one can quickly realize non-inverted emptiness. If one thinks that saying the eye is empty of the eye harms conventional terms, and says the eye is empty of truth, then one neither abandons emptiness nor has difficulty understanding in conventional terms. Although one may think that this way of explaining is very good, in fact, if that were the case, due to the power of the phrase "the eye is empty of truth," it would be established that the eye that is empty of truth is not empty in conventional terms. Therefore, in all Madhyamika treatises, it is sufficient to rely solely on what is said: "Dependent origination is infallible, and all phenomena are without inherent existence," because that phrase already expresses both meanings: that the eye is not empty in conventional terms, and that it is empty in ultimate reality. Therefore, rather than adding more clarity to those two phrases by supplementing them with "the eye is not empty of the eye," it does not improve things, because if in ultimate reality the eye is not empty of the eye, then saying it is empty of true establishment becomes meaningless. And, in conventional terms, the eye not being empty of the eye is already established by the implication of "the eye is empty of truth." What is the point of saying it again? Because it is said, "the eye is empty of truth," the eye is shown as the basis for establishing emptiness of truth, and that basis is shown to be empty of true establishment, not an eye that is more than empty of true establishment.
