If suffering and its origin, as well as cessation, do not exist, then what is the cessation that eliminates suffering through the antidote path? It is unreasonable to think that it will be obtained. Secondly, it is unreasonable to assume that there is no wisdom with an object. If there is no wisdom with an object, then even without cultivation, one would naturally and completely understand suffering from the beginning. If not, then how could suffering be completely understood? Isn't it said that complete understanding is inherently existent? If so, then inherent existence does not depend on new conditions. Similarly, your assertions of abandoning the origin of suffering, realizing cessation, cultivating the path, and their fruits—such as stream-entry—cannot be newly established like complete understanding. Secondly, the assertion that the Three Jewels do not exist is divided into three points: the assertion that the Sangha Jewel, the Dharma Jewel, and the Buddha Jewel do not exist. The first point is: if you do not abandon the complete clinging to inherent nature, then how can these four fruits, which were not previously obtained by inherent nature, be newly obtained later? It is impossible to obtain them. In general, if there are no four fruits, there are no fruit-holders, and without fruit-holders, there are no stream-enterers, etc. Therefore, if these eight types of individuals do not exist, there is no Sangha Jewel. The second point is: because the noble truths do not exist, there is also no sacred Dharma of scripture and realization. The third point is: if there are no Dharma Jewel and Sangha Jewel, how can there be a Buddha Jewel? It is impossible. You believe that the Buddha is inherently existent, therefore it would also lead to not relying on enlightenment, that is, omniscient wisdom, because it does not depend on others. If you believe that enlightenment is inherently existent, then it would also lead to not relying on the Buddha who manifests enlightenment. According to your view, the one who was not a Buddha by inherent nature before, that is, the practitioner who learns the path, no matter how diligently he seeks enlightenment, he will not be able to obtain enlightenment, because he can never change from his previous inherent nature. Thirdly, the assertion that cause and effect do not exist: no one will ever do good or evil, because the cause is not wasted, so he

If one were to do something, then for a permanent dharma that has inherent existence, there is no function. If you assert that the result exists by its own nature, then even without the cause, dharma and non-dharma, you would have its fully ripened result, because it would exist without a cause. If you assert this, it contradicts the world and the treatises. Your result does not depend on the cause, so the result that arises from the cause of dharma and non-dharma cannot possibly exist in your system. In that case, the actions performed would become meaningless. If you have the result that arises from the cause of dharma and non-dharma, then why is the result that arises from dependence on dharma and non-dharma not empty? Because it is dependent arising, like an image. Fourth, the conventions of the world and beyond would become non-existent, because whatever asserts inherent existence, which harms emptiness, the meaning of dependent arising, harms all the worldly conventions, such as "Give me the pot," and so on. Furthermore, if one harms by holding that agents, etc., are incompatible with emptiness, then all phenomena would have no function in the permanent, inherently existent dharma, just as no one can do anything about the unobstructedness of the sky. Also, no one is acting, because it becomes an inherently existent action, so no one can act. In that case, even if no one makes pots, etc., it would follow that they would become makers. Fourth, other faults would also occur: if there is inherent existence, then beings would not have been previously unborn and would not cease later, and would always remain constant. In that case, they would be devoid of the various states of happiness and suffering and previous and subsequent lives, etc. If emptiness does not exist, then there would be no newly obtaining the distinction between the world and beyond that was not previously obtained, and there would be no end to the complete exhaustion of suffering, and there would also be no newly abandoning the previously existing actions and afflictions. Third, stating the greatness of realizing the Middle Way: Therefore, whoever sees dependent arising sees suffering, its origin, its cessation, and the path itself, and sees them correctly.
