Commentary on the Root Verses of the Middle Way, "A Clear Exposition of the Nature of Reality: Ornament of the Dragon King's Thought." Commentary on the Root Verses of the Middle Way, "A Clear Exposition of the Nature of Reality: Ornament of the Dragon King's Thought." Nāgendrāśayālaṅgāranāmamadhyāmakamūlavyanjanavṛttiviṣamasthitisuprakatāsti. A treatise called "Commentary on the Root Verses of the Middle Way, A Clear Exposition of the Nature of Reality: Ornament of the Dragon King's Thought" is present. I prostrate with reverence through the three doors to the Lama and the venerable Manjushri. In the vast expanse of his profound wisdom, A hundred thousand rays of light dispel the dense darkness of permanence and annihilation, The sun-like mandala of the Middle Way, free from extremes, expands, I offer homage to the omniscient, unequaled Teacher, the King of Sages. The demon of existence, sleeping in the heart since beginningless time, A hundred thousand nets binding with what is real and unreal, The deity skilled at severing with the sharp sword of wisdom, Manjushri, the one treasure of wisdom, is beautiful at the crown of the head. Commentary on the Root Verses of the Middle Way, "A Clear Exposition of the Nature of Reality: Ornament of the Dragon King's Thought," beautiful with the scattered jewels of truth in the ocean of the Dharmadhatu. With the confidence of profound patience, the arising of interdependence is exceedingly magnificent, The reasoning adorned with a hundred thousand aspects, the ultimate sound of emptiness proclaims loudly, I respectfully prostrate to Nagarjuna and his sons, together with the lineage. The essence of the many treatises that well explain the root of the Middle Way, Manjushri, who possesses the supreme mind of delight, This commentary established by him is explained here. Here, in explaining the great treatise "Root Wisdom of the Middle Way" composed by the great teacher, the noble Nagarjuna, there are three parts: the introduction, the main body, and the conclusion. The first part includes: the mention of the title and the homage of translation. The first is the mention of the title: In Sanskrit: Prajñā-nāma-mūla-madhyamaka-kārikā. In Tibetan: དབུ་མ་རྩ་བའི་ཚིག་ལེའུར་བྱས་པ་ཤེས་རབ་ཅེས་བྱ་བ་སྟེ།(The Root Verses of the Middle Way, called Wisdom). That is, if translated directly word by word, Prajñā, nāma, mūla, madhyamaka, and kārikā, these five words in order, translated into Tibetan are: ཤེས་རབ་(Wisdom), ཅེས་བྱ་བ་(called), རྩ་བ་(Root), དབུ་མ་(Middle Way), and ཚིག་ལེའུར་བྱས་པའོ།(Verses). Among them, the Middle Way is the nature that is free from the eight extremes. The Root is like the mother of subsequent treatises, collections of reasoning, etc. The verses also include the two meanings of dividing into chapters and stanzas, that is, words combined in the form of stanzas. Called Wisdom is the proclamation of the name.

If one enters this treatise through hearing and thinking, one will generate the wisdom that realizes the reality of being free from all extremes without any inversion. The wisdom of the Perfection of Wisdom is non-dual. That wisdom is the Thus-Gone One. Because it possesses the meaning to be accomplished, it is named with the word "That" on the path of the treatise. Thus it is said. Secondly, I prostrate to the youthful Manjushri, the deity of wisdom who truly reveals the ultimate reality of all phenomena. This is the salutation made by the translator in the early translation period to pacify the obstacles to the translation. Secondly, the content of the treatise is divided into three parts: the branch of entering the treatise - praise, the actual treatise with branches, and the salutation of remembering kindness. The first part is: Which protector, having truly understood the way in which all phenomena arise dependently, in the face of the wisdom of the noble ones, has no end, no beginning, no cessation of the essence, no permanence of the essence, no coming from elsewhere, no going from here to elsewhere, not separate meanings, and not the same meaning, thus, the proliferation of all extremes such as language and what is spoken, characteristics and what is signified, is pacified, and having transcended the terms of mind and mental factors, knowledge and objects of knowledge, he has shown the path of pacifying the afflictions of birth, old age, and so on. I respectfully prostrate to that supreme and holy one, known as the Perfectly Awakened One, the best of all philosophical masters. This is the salutation made by the author of the treatise at the beginning. This also shows the four necessary connections: Some people think that merely the negation of the eight extremes of proliferation is what is to be expressed, but to think that dependent arising, distinguished by the eight ways of non-cessation, etc., is what is to be expressed is actually the expression of the directly shown conventional truth. However, here, the thusness of dependent arising, the reality that is free from the eight extremes of proliferation, the pacification of proliferation, is what is to be expressed. It is necessary to easily realize that meaning through the reasoning explained in this treatise. The non-abiding Nirvana indicated by pacification is the ultimate purpose. Because the purpose and the treatise are related through the method and what arises from the method.
