Eliminating Defilements. Refuting the aggregates to be appropriated. Summarizing the meaning established by refutation. The first part has two: refuting that the taker exists substantially, and refuting that it exists as an imputed nature. The first part is: if the Tathagata exists by its own nature, then at that time it is established by a long continuity, so although there is a continuation of lineage, the Tathagata is not established by its own nature, if it exists, then it is one with the aggregates, and if examined in terms of otherness, etc., it is unreasonable. If the aggregates are the Tathagata, then like firewood is fire, etc. If the aggregates are the self, then like birth, etc. If other than the aggregates, then add its opposite. Like a tree on a mountain, the Tathagata does not rely on the aggregates, because it does not exist in otherness. Like a wild animal in a forest, the Tathagata also does not rely on the aggregates, because it does not exist in otherness. Like the marks of excellence of a Chakravartin, the Tathagata does not possess aggregates, because it is one with the aggregates, and not different. Some say: the Tathagata does not exist in the manner of the five aggregates, but relies on the aggregates, existing in a way that cannot be said to be one or different. If it does not exist by its own nature, then it cannot exist from other things, if its own nature does not exist, then the nature of others is also unreasonable, etc., but all of this will appear in the detailed explanation below. Thus, the Tathagata is not the nature of the aggregates such as form, because it is subject to arising and ceasing, and becomes many, and the agent and the action become one. It is not an independent entity other than the aggregates, because it would be a non-conditioned phenomenon. The aggregates do not rely on the Tathagata, and the Tathagata does not exist by relying on those aggregates, and if the Tathagata does not possess aggregates, then what is called the Tathagata, because it cannot be found by examining it in five ways. The second part has three: refuting establishment from one's own side and the side of others, refuting with the reasoning of non-appropriation, and summarizing the meaning of both. The first part is: if it is said that the Buddha is established by relying on the aggregates, and does not exist by its own nature or essence, then what does not exist in its own nature, how could it exist from the object of another, whatever arises relying on the object of another, is like an artificial image, not one's own self.

It is not reasonable. If something does not have its own nature, how can it become a Tathagata, it will not become a Tathagata. If it is not with its own nature, then how can there be something different from it? Apart from self-nature and other things, what is the Tathagata? It does not exist. The second view is: Many respected people say that the Tathagata exists because he is the receiver of the five aggregates of the Buddha's lineage. In this regard, if a Tathagata who does not depend on the aggregates is established, then he can be regarded as the receiver, but in reality, a Tathagata who does not depend on the aggregates is not established. If nothing is established, then how does he accept the aggregates? Because there is no receiver. If, like Lhasbyin accepting wealth before relying on wealth, there is some Tathagata who accepts the aggregates, then the one that has been established now begins to depend on the aggregates, and only after relying on it does it become the receiver, but there is no independent Tathagata who does not depend on the aggregates, and if there is no Tathagata who does not depend on the aggregates, then how does he accept the aggregates? Because there is no receiver. Therefore, for someone who has not accepted the aggregates, how can it not become self-proclaimed as the receiver? It will definitely become. Therefore, the Tathagata who has not accepted the aggregates, called the receiver, does not exist. The third view is: Thus, searching in five ways, if the Tathagata does not exist in the aggregates and its own and other four ways, then how can the Tathagata with the characteristics of the receiver be called by the word receiver? Cannot be called. Second, refute the accepted aggregates: If there is a receiver, thinking that there are accepted aggregates, then it does not exist by its own nature, but depends on the dependent origination of the receiver, and the aggregates have been analyzed and refuted. If those aggregates do not exist in their own entity, but exist depending on other causal things, that is unreasonable. Because something that does not exist from its own entity,
