Since these two causes do not exist, the Commentary on the Verses on the Middle Way states that these two causes are causeless. Refuting the self-cause: Just as the shadow of an umbrella in the sky falls on the ground, if it is assumed that any object exists, then any result that arises from it is considered a self-cause. Since the existence of "this exists" is impossible, how can anything arise from it? Like this, seeds and other phenomena, any dependent arising that does not have even a little bit of inherent existence, the existence of these is not "this," because if it is said that "because this cause exists, this result arises," this is not reasonable. Third, refuting the proof of causes: Even if the causes are analyzed with reason, they do not exist. However, since it is manifestly established that cloth and other things arise from threads and other things, if it is said that threads and other things are the causes of cloth, that is not correct. If the thread and other causes each individually have the result, cloth and so on, then there would be the fault of being visible but not found, and there would be the fault of many results, so the thread, good thread, and so on, each do not have a result. The result is also not present when the causes are assembled, because each cause does not have a result, and if there were a result, there would be the fault of one broken result. Even if it does not exist, if it arises, then it would also be the fault that cloth arises from non-causes such as reeds, because there is no difference between the two in that neither has any result, so how can the result that does not exist in its own causes arise from the cause? It does not arise. If it is said that even if the result does not exist in the cause, the result will arise from those causes, then why will the result not arise from other non-causes? It would be the fault of arising. To that, someone says, if the cause and the result are different, then it can be considered whether the result exists in the cause. However, since the nature of the cause is the result, there is no difference between the two, and the result is considered to be the nature of the cause or just a change. That is not reasonable. If the thread and other causes are established as self or their own essence or nature, then they can become cloth. However, these causes are changes in the nature of parts, and not inherently established. Thus, what is not the object of self, that is, what is without inherent existence, how can the result that arises from it be the nature of the cause?

It will not change, just as a vase is not the nature of a sky flower. Therefore, the result is also not the nature of conditions, as it is said: "Cloth is made from threads, Threads are also made from others, If one is not established by oneself, How can it generate others?" Then, will it become the nature of non-conditions? The result of the nature of non-conditions does not exist; if cloth is not the nature of threads, how can it become the nature of reeds? Someone says: Although it is okay to analyze that the result does not exist, conditions and non-conditions do exist. You also admit "from non-conditions" etc. If it exists, why do you say the result does not exist? If the result exists, then cloth will be considered as conditions (threads) and non-conditions (reeds) etc. If, as analyzed before, the result does not exist, then here, separating non-conditions as the conditions of things, how can it change? It will not change. Or, if it is thought that the result is produced from conditions, then the conditions are not produced from themselves like the result. The conditions are not produced from self-birth, so how can the result produced from that be said to be produced from conditions? Therefore, it is not produced from conditions, and the result produced from non-conditions does not exist. If analyzed in this way, the result does not exist, so how can it be correct to say it is a condition or non-condition? It will not be correct. Just as Ga la said in "Fearless" in this way. Second, summarizing the meaning from the perspective of names: The Examination of Conditions, this is the first chapter. Second, in the chapter on examining coming and going, the connection of the sutra is: Completely suppressing with excellent wisdom, the coming and going of form is invisible. And so on, and the connection of the chapter. In the offering verse, the display of the meaning of "no coming, no going" is divided into two: extensively explaining the meaning of the words of the treatise and summarizing the meaning from the perspective of names. The first part is divided into two: extensively stating the rationality of reason and summarizing the meaning established by reason. The first part is divided into three: refuting what is to be established, refuting what can be established, and refuting with the reason of separate examination.
