Or it does not arise from other things, or it does not depend, that is, it does not depend on other conditions, such as seeking spiritual friends. This indicates that because Suchness has great power, once it encounters this nectar, it will surely be liberated from suffering without doubt. Therefore, even at the cost of life, one should seek Suchness, just as the Bodhisattva Sadāprarudita sought the Bhagavati. For the Shravakas, this will become a great meaning, while for the Bodhisattvas, it is like the blind men touching the elephant. Furthermore, by examining the Dharma nature of dependent origination, he can also gradually attain Buddhahood, and no one can hinder it, which is inevitable. The Suchness of our own school is not just the disappearance of the thoughts of "I" and "mine" as examined above. Therefore, this treatise is a condensation of the essential points of the practice of the two non-selves. From "Liberation" to "above" is the common stage of practice of the non-self of the person, and from "below" to "not permanent" is the unique non-self of phenomena. The second is, examining the self and phenomena, called the eighteenth chapter. The nineteenth chapter, the treatise on examining time. The connection of the Sutra is, in the Mother Sutra, it says: "The past is not observed, the future is not observed, the present arising is not observed," etc., and the meaning of "the equality of the three times," etc. The connection of the treatise is that things exist because they are the cause of being established as the three times. If someone asks, didn't the Buddha also speak of the three times? In order to show that this is not established, it is divided into two parts: the text and the name. The first part is divided into two parts: refuting the nature of time, and refuting the establishment of time. The first part is divided into two parts: examining the three times with reason, and applying this reason to others. The first part is divided into two parts: applying it to the past to refute it, and the reason for applying it to the remaining parts. The first part is divided into three parts: refuting establishment by dependence, refuting establishment without dependence, and summarizing the meaning. The first part is: time is not established, if the present and future exist by nature, then do they depend on the past, or do they not depend? If it is the former, then the present arising and the future, if they depend on the past time, then the present arising and the future will exist in the past time. If they exist, then the two will become the past.

If the past time does not exist, then how can the present and future depend on the past? Since that which is depended upon does not exist, how can it be said to be established by depending on it? This is like a widow and child depending on a man. Things like a vase that arise and cease are the past, those that arise and do not cease are the present, and those that are possible to arise but have not yet arisen or have not yet been obtained are the future. The difference between them is that, for a present vase, from the perspective of ceasing, existing, and being possible to arise, the nominal time is not established even slightly in its own nature. The second case is, if it is thought that it can be established without depending on the past, then the present and future both are not established in themselves, like a donkey's horn. The third case is, Since it cannot be established whether it depends or not, therefore the present and future times also do not exist. Second, the method of connecting the remainder is: through this order of analysis, the method of analyzing the remaining two times can also be changed, such as "the past and future, if they depend on the present," and "the past and present, if they depend on the future," and so on. That is to say, these times can never meet at the same time, and if they depend on existence by nature, then they depend on their own time, or if there is no object to depend on, how can they depend? Second, the method of applying this reasoning to other things is: just like analyzing the three times, other things with three attributes can also be analyzed, such as best, worst, middle, and so on. The "etc." includes: the three of virtue, etc., birth, dwelling, cessation, beginning, middle, end, desire, etc. realms, learning, not learning, non-dual, etc., and whatever is related to them. Similarly, the number one, etc., also includes two and many. All these things, whether or not they depend on each other, cannot be established. Therefore, one should change "if the best and worst depend on the middle," etc., to understand this. Second, refuting the argument for time: time exists because it has measure, and what does not exist cannot have measure, like the length of a rabbit's horn. Therefore, time is distinguished from instant, moment, short time to year, kalpa, and therefore has measure. If it is thought so, then if there is so-called time, it can be understood that it has measure. But it does not exist, because the so-called time
