If emptiness is the only thing, as the Light Protector (Kashyapa) said, "Those who cling to emptiness, I cannot cure." Just as bile disease can be cured with medicine, but if the medicine itself becomes the disease, the medicine cannot cure it. Therefore, if emptiness, like medicine, itself is clung to, then there is no way to realize emptiness. Because for that person, the antidote itself has become a food tumor. Some say that things and non-things, non-emptiness and emptiness, are all merely interdependent, without their own self-nature, so emptiness is only a means to destroy clinging, and should not be clung to in itself, just like there is nothing to give. If someone says, "Give me what is nothing," it is like it is difficult to make people believe that it is nothing. The second is, the discussion of Suchness or Formations, which is the thirteenth chapter. The fourteenth chapter is the discussion of analyzing contact. Sutra connection: The meaning of "Form has no contact or separation" etc. in the *Śrīmālādevī Siṃhanāda Sūtra*. Treatise connection: The self-nature of things exists, in order to explain their contact, and "depending on the eye and form, the consciousness of the eye arises" etc., and the statement that "the gathering of the three produces touch." If someone asks, analyzing contact shows its unreasonableness, divided into two: text and name. The first part is divided into three: briefly explain from the perspective of establishing the proposition, explain in detail from a reasonable perspective, and summarize the meaning established by negation. The first is: the object to be observed, form; the observing eye faculty; and the observer, self or eye consciousness, these three, two by two, that is, form and eye, or form and eye consciousness, or eye and eye consciousness have no contact, and all three of them cannot simultaneously contact each other. Similarly, desire and the desiring consciousness, and the object of desire, as well as anger and other remaining afflictions, and the remaining sense bases, such as what is heard, etc., also in the way of dividing into three, there is no contact between two by two or all three, just as the son and daughter of a widow cannot meet. The second part is divided into two: because the subject is not established, contact is unreasonable, and

Since there is no one and different, it is unreasonable to be in contact. The first part has two: a brief indication and a detailed explanation of the reasonableness. The first part is: If these things are other substances from themselves and are different, then like water and milk, they will be in contact. However, because the object to be observed, the observer, and the act of observing, etc., the substance of contact is not separate, therefore they will not be in contact. The second part has two: the other that is established by its own nature is unreasonable, and the generality of the other itself is not established. The first part has two: the way to apply the reasoning to other things, and the refutation of the other's own nature. The first part is: In this way, the object to be observed and the act of observing, etc., exist as cause and effect or mutually dependent things, and what is said here is that not only is there no contact because there is no other itself, but also any object such as a vase, together with any object such as cloth, is unreasonably becoming the established other itself. The second part is: In the world, the other such as a vase depends on the other such as cloth and is established as the other, because of dependence, if there is no cloth, etc., then the other does not exist, therefore for the other such as a vase, the name of the other will not be established. Therefore, whatever is relied upon and established as the other is not reasonably the other from its own nature, because it is established by mutual dependence. If the other is the other from its own nature from another other, then at that time, even without the other, it will be established as the other, but without the other, it is impossible to become the other, therefore, the other is not established by its own nature. Therefore, if there is contact, then the contact must have the other, but that does not exist. It is merely established by mutual dependence, other than that, the word other is not established by its own nature. Therefore, how can contact be established by its own nature? It's like land and seedlings, and long and short. If the word other depends on the other and is related, but if it also exists in its own nature, what is the contradiction? If it is the other in its own nature, then it must be established as the other without dependence, but that is impossible. Second, the generality of the other itself is not established: If it is not because fragments, etc., depend on other things and are established as the other, but because there is the generality of the other itself, so it is combined with it and established as the name of the other, if that is the case, if there is the generality of the other itself, then that is also possible, but there is no such generality of the other itself, if there is,
