Because it is omnipresent, burning does not originate from a cause. 1. If there is no dependence, then there will never be a lack or error, so fire must burn forever. If this is the case, since there is no new ignition, the act of obtaining firewood, etc., to continue the burning, etc., will become meaningless. 2. The second view is: Even if fire is different from wood, it does not mean that fire cannot arise without wood. Even if the two are different, there is no fire without firewood, because it will burn. The essence of fire burning is firewood, and fire also depends on firewood, not existing independently. Therefore, firewood is mentioned because it is associated with fire, and fire also depends on firewood, so it is a mutually dependent "other," not an independent "other" like cloth and wool, so no fault will arise. If someone thinks that fire must depend on firewood, because what is burning is firewood, then, when what is burning is just firewood, there is no fire other than firewood, so who will burn the firewood? It will not be burned. Here, "burning" means that the substance of the firewood has disappeared and turned into fire, then there is nothing other than fire; if the substance of the firewood has not disappeared and the fire still exists in the firewood, then what will it burn? Because there is no connection, it will become an independent "other," like the fire in the east and the firewood in the west. 3. To demonstrate another damaging reasoning, it is divided into two parts: the actual refutation and the refutation of the answer to eliminate the error. First: Because fire and firewood are different, the two will never meet like light and darkness. If they do not meet, like the fire in the east and the firewood in the west, they will not burn. If they do not burn, the power of the firewood being exhausted will not cause the fire to go out. If it does not go out, it will forever maintain the characteristic of burning and exist forever. Second: Just as a woman meets a man and a man also meets a woman, even if fire is produced from wood, it may meet with wood. If fire and wood are like women and men, not depending on each other, one rejecting or eliminating the other, and each existing independently, then fire is indeed different from wood.
