Because it is impossible for the two to meet. Third, someone asks: When one sees yogurt being produced from milk, why does the state of milk as the cause cease? Answer: When the arising of all dharmas is not established as previously examined, the cessation of all dharmas must be established on the basis of the existence of arising, but because there is no arising, cessation is also not established. Fourth, for the time being, cessation is not established for existing things, because the things that the actions of the two enter are the same basis, so it is impossible for both the existence of things and the cessation of things to be non-existent. Here, according to the old translation: Things and the non-existence of things are impossible on the same basis. Cessation is also not established for things that have become non-existent, because there is no support. For example, for a person with only one head, there is no second head, so it is like not being able to cut off the second head, because there has never been a second head. Fifth, cessation cannot be ceased by other cessation or by itself. Or rather, cessation itself cannot be ceased by itself, nor can it be ceased by other cessation, just as arising is not caused by itself or others, which can be understood through translation. Second, to summarize the main points: Thus, the characteristics of conditioned phenomena, arising, abiding, and ceasing, are not established in terms of reasoning, so the objects of conditioned phenomena, such as form, etc., are proven to be non-existent in their own nature. Second, refutation of the unconditioned: If it is thought that conditioned phenomena exist, then the unconditioned, which is its opposite, also exists, then, according to the principles stated above, since conditioned phenomena are completely not established, how can the unconditioned, which is its cessation, be established? It cannot be established. Third, eliminating contradictions with the scriptures: If someone thinks that the Blessed One once said: Bhikshus, conditioned phenomena also appear as arising, and also appear as decay and change from the state of abiding. This contradicts the above view. Answer: This is not said in the ultimate sense, but because self-nature does not arise, so like dreams and illusions, the world appears with the characteristics of birth, abiding, and cessation, so it is said in consideration of this. Even without conditioned and unconditioned dharmas, the so-called object is only

Like a road, like an illusion, like a city of Gandharvas, thus do all phenomena arise, thus do they abide, and thus do they perish. The second is called "Examination of Birth, Abiding, and Cessation," which is the seventh chapter. Eighth, in the chapter on examining the agent and action, the connection of the sutra: In the Mother Sutra, it is said that where the agent is not found, there also the action is not found. And so on. The connection of the chapter: Conditioned dharmas exist by their own nature, because there is action and agent. The Bhagavan also said that the person, the individual, who is associated with ignorance, also manifestly accumulates merit. And so on. If one thinks like this, in order to show that it does not exist, there are two: the text and the name. The first has three parts: refuting action and agent in the ultimate sense, establishing them only in name, and applying the reasoning to other ways. The first has two parts: refuting the action and agent of the same side, and refuting the action and agent of the opposite side. The first is: In that, if a person, an agent, performs any action that is desired or to be entered into, and if the action and the agent are established by their own nature, then that action, is it the agent, or not the agent, or both? By which of the three does it act? Similarly, the action also, becoming action, etc., when examining by which of the three it acts, etc., for the one who has become the agent, there is no action of performing that action, because the one who has already been established as the agent, there is no second action of establishing it there again, so that action is not the action of the agent, therefore, it becomes an action without an agent, if that is the case, then it would follow that there is a pot made by a virgin. Therefore, one is established as an agent by having action, and action is also established by having action, but if those two are established from their own side, then it will not become the action of the agent, and even without action, it would follow that there is an agent, because the one who has become the agent by the action of that action, does not perform the action that has become the action or has the action by its own nature. Similarly, the one who has become a non-agent by not having action, also does not perform the one who does not have action or has not become action, thus the proposition is established. The reason or rationality for that is that for the one who has become the agent, there is no action to perform that action, because
