as well as smelling, tasting, touching, and thinking, these five senses and the five consciousnesses such as the listener and the smeller, and the reasoning that prevents the five objects such as what is heard, should also be understood as explained in this way. As in "hearing is its own nature, in it there is no listener," etc., should be combined and understood. The second of the root texts. Regarding this, in the other three great commentaries, it is called the "Element Chapter" and in the "Clear Words" it is called the "Sense Faculty Chapter." Examining whether the elements, with the sense faculties as the main focus, are inherently established is called the third distinction. Fourth, in the distinction of examining the aggregates, the connection to the sutras is from the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, which states, "Form is empty of form." etc. The connection of the distinction is: the five aggregates exist, as explained in the Dharma Abhidhamma. If someone thinks that the elements are also included in it, so they exist, then to show that they do not exist, it is divided into two aspects: explaining the meaning of the treatise in detail, and summarizing the meaning from the perspective of the name. The first aspect is divided into three parts: refuting the aggregate of form, applying this reasoning to other aspects, and learning the manner of debate. The first part is divided into two aspects: the proposition and its reason. The first is: apart from the four elements that are the cause of form, the five objects and five senses that are different from it in their own nature as a result are impossible to be the object of focus. Apart from what is called the form of the result, the four elements that are the cause of form, which are different from it in their own nature, are also impossible to appear separately. The second part is divided into two aspects: the reasons for the first and second. The first is: the reason is that if the form of the result exists by its own nature apart from the cause of form, then the form of the result would become without a cause, like a vase and felt becoming unrelated, or because it exists by its own nature and does not depend on a cause. Therefore, no object of meaning can be without a cause at any time or place, because this would lead to faults such as being permanent or non-existent. The second is: if it is thought that there is a cause of form apart from the form of the result, then it would become a cause without a result, because it lacks the reason for making the cause a cause, like a flower in the sky. Therefore, a cause without a result never exists. Furthermore, if

If the resultant form exists by its own nature, then the cause of form cannot be established, because what is already established does not need a cause. If the resultant form does not exist, then the cause of form cannot be established, because what does not exist cannot be produced. Thus, upon examination, the cause of form does not exist, and form without a cause cannot possibly exist at any time. This double negation is stated to repeatedly emphasize that speaking of no cause is extremely inferior, because it contradicts both direct perception and inference. Thus, if we analyze form, since it does not exist in any way, yogis who observe the essence of things should not separately examine the appearances of form, such as obstructed and unobstructed, or blue and yellow, because they are separate from inherent existence. Furthermore, if one considers the elements to be the cause of form, then what kind of result does it produce, similar to itself or different? If one says that the result is only similar to the cause, that is not reasonable, because the cause is hardness, liquidity, etc., and the result is the five senses and the five objects, just as the earth and the sprout are different in nature or dissimilar. If one also says that the result is completely different from the cause, that is also not reasonable, because then everything different would become cause and effect, and the certainty of the concomitance and non-concomitance of cause and effect would be impossible to establish. Second, applying this reasoning to other things: Furthermore, the result is feeling, the cause is touch, perception and the consciousness that arises simultaneously with it, formation and ignorance, mind-consciousness and the formations that arise simultaneously with it, and all things such as characteristic and basis, parts and whole, are all the same in all respects or in every way as the reasoning that negates the inherent nature of form. That is to say, "Without touch there is no feeling, without feeling there is no touch," etc., translate these quotations. Third, learning the method of debate: Since the emptiness of one dharma is the nature of all dharmas, therefore, establish that form is without inherent existence. If the Madhyamikas who speak of emptiness debate with the words of refuting the side that claims form has inherent existence,
