Therefore, be mindful at all times. If someone was previously careless, but later becomes mindful, they will appear like the moon freed from clouds, like Nanda and Suddhodana. From people's demeanor and behavior, one can foresee future good and bad fortune. Therefore, do not deviate from the customs of ancient virtuous people. Even if one possesses all virtues internally, if one's demeanor is improper, one will be despised by all. Therefore, one should dress in accordance with one's wealth, in the manner of virtuous people. The poor who love extravagant decorations, and the wealthy who wear tattered clothes, both become the laughingstock of the world. Therefore, adornments should be used appropriately. A retinue adorned with fine ornaments becomes a symbol of the master's glory. Adorning a horse with ornaments is like adding beauty to the owner himself. Even if one speaks in various languages, it will not please barbarians. But if one speaks in their own language, they will be pleased. The narrow-minded people of the world do not understand inner qualities, so if one's outward appearance conforms to the world, the world will be pleased. Therefore, even though great Bodhisattvas do not have vain thoughts, they display extraordinary demeanor in order to better guide the minds of the world. The higher the position of a wise person, the more upright their behavior should be. If a jewel is offered at the top, it will fulfill people's needs as desired. If a base person is placed in a high position, their evil deeds will increase even more. If a local deity is worshipped in a cave, it will encourage evil magic. One should not gather people with bad conduct around oneself, because bad attendants bring slander to the king. Seeing good attendants with upright behavior, all people will rejoice. Therefore, one should only gather virtuous people with upright conduct around oneself. Apart from festival celebrations, if one is constantly distracted by games and amusements, even ordinary people will neglect their duties, let alone noble people. Alcohol makes the mind confused and gives rise to licentious behavior, thereby losing the ability to distinguish between what to accept and reject. Fools regard the act of numbing their minds as happiness. Even during the day, it is not dignified for a ruler to wander around, let alone wander around like a ghost at night. Remember every day

Having known this, strive to learn, recite, and meditate as much as possible. Examine the welfare of the subjects and people. If you are lazy, all purposes will be lost. If you associate with sinful friends, it is like a tree eaten by insects. Virtuous qualities diminish, and negative actions increase. The root of all faults is bad companionship. Attending gatherings and such, if you are too frivolous and scattered, you cannot remain stable. Like cottonwood blown by the wind, how can the conduct of a royal lineage be beautiful? Therefore, the protector Nagarjuna said: Gambling, watching gatherings, laziness, associating with sinful friends, drinking alcohol, and wandering at night are said to be the six causes of the decline of fame. These are explained in the Letter to a Friend. Taking these as examples, all non-Dharma activities should be abandoned. Whether you engage in what is not to be done or what should be done, it will increase through habit. Therefore, with mindfulness, awareness, and caution, if you tame your own mind, you will become good. Those who are cautious in their conduct will be respected by all beings, and even the unrestrained, upon seeing them, will be filled with fear and be subdued by their power. Desire is the cause of all calamities. The Victorious One has described it as being like the kimpa fruit. Even if you have not completely abandoned attachment to desire, you should not be too greedy. A king who upholds the vows of celibacy or a lay practitioner, in this world, is like the moon in the midst of the stars, increasing the joy of the people. If a member of the royal family commits adultery with someone other than his own wife, in this life, his reputation will be ruined, and in the next life, he will fall into the lower realms. When caught by the iron hook of desire, even a member of the royal family will be controlled by others. Even an elephant with great physical strength will be made to act like a slave when struck by the mahout's hook. If you indulge too much in desires, they will spread like fire in a field of grass. This will damage wealth and fame, therefore, contentment is happiness. Even if all the enjoyments of desire on earth were possessed by one person, they would not be satisfied and would still crave more. Therefore, be content with desire. Contentment is the best of wealth, moderation is the best of actions, moderate actions lead to distant goals, and great altruism is the best of lords. Therefore, with a cautious mind, make all conduct beautiful. Even the Buddha primarily tames those to be tamed through conduct. Like observing the length of a yoke, steady your pace.
