In the treatise of, one should listen to what is said. With a single mind on the meaning of listening, after examining, once faith is obtained, I am praised as the protector and eye of those who nurture beings, even if I am not superior to ordinary people, how can I be equal to the inferior? A person who understands himself and is cautious, that person is meaningful. If a ruler possesses virtues, then the people of the entourage, entering into their own desired evil deeds, the opportunity will be blocked. Without seeking any merit, merely relying on the pride of lineage, harming one's own entourage, even if they are royalty, they will eventually decline. The size of a king's power follows the rise and fall of his entourage. Therefore, it is the duty of the king to carefully consider the well-being of his subjects. From the "Ornament of the Earth" in the Legal Treatise, the first chapter on diligence. In order to know what is right and wrong, the best of men should study various treatises and rely on those who have virtues. If one is not proficient in the treatises, with the knowledge of small intelligence, one cannot distinguish the vast acceptance and rejection, therefore one should read the scriptures and commentaries. When learning virtues, one should abandon arrogance and rely on the teacher. If one relies on the holy ones, virtues will increase like a river in summer. Visible and invisible virtues, the root of everything is wisdom. Without wisdom, one cannot rule the country with mere love. If one starts with wisdom, there is nothing that cannot be accomplished. With the power of wisdom, even becoming a Buddha can be achieved, what about others? The door to increasing vast wisdom is listening, therefore, if one does not strive to seek listening, then what can one do with small actions? The great source of Dharma, worldly affairs, desire, and liberation is wisdom. Even if a good scripture that increases wisdom is given, if it is not needed, is it not like livestock? A person with wisdom alone can defeat a powerful enemy. Just as the sun, whose light is most supreme, suppresses the stars. Without wisdom, even if one has wealth, it will become food for the enemy. Even if one has strength, one will be controlled by others, like using an iron hook to control an elephant. If someone wants to become wise, then accumulate one or two words each day.

Having become, it increases like the waxing moon. If not learned, sitting silently, Even after a hundred years, there is no benefit. If you wish to attain the realm of the wise, Endure hardships with diligence. Without diligence, there is no merit; Without merit, in wealth, Hoping in vain, ultimately fruitless, Like a tree in winter. If there is merit, Even if it declines for a time, it does not matter, Soon it will bear the fruit of happiness, Like a good tree in spring. A king is respected in his own country, One with merit is honored in another country. More important than kingship, Merit is enough to take for oneself. Having enough merit for oneself, Yet not cultivating merit in oneself, And envying those with merit, Alas! Destroyed by the power of karma. If a person is devoid of wisdom and talent, Even if many people gather, Like a lion chasing a herd of cattle, One wise person can overcome them. Even if another is strong, If one has wisdom, one can employ them. Although the Garuda bird wins in battle, In the end, it is ridden by Vishnu. One who possesses wisdom and talent, Can rule all the lands, Only this one king, Can possess all the earth. If one holds the lamp of wisdom, The darkness of decline will not remain there. A wise person who is proficient in scriptures, Adorns the world like the sun. All the collections of goodness of Dharma and politics, Depend on the power of wisdom. Therefore, one should first cultivate the eye of wisdom, Then one can accomplish whatever one desires. Things that should not be done and places that should be done, If one does not know, then small things, Even if one tries hard, it is difficult to accomplish, What to say of the accomplishment of great things? Things that ordinary people cannot accomplish, The wise accomplish with skillful means. The stubborn and untamed naked crowd, Manjushri subdued with wisdom. When wisdom greatly increases, Then all things are unobstructed. A path difficult for a thousand blind people to walk, One with eyes can cut through. With just the words of a wise person, Ordinary people can accomplish great things. The king, because of the words "mirror face," Obtained happiness. The wise are not satisfied with good speech, The holy are not satisfied with merit, The ocean is not satisfied with water, Children are not satisfied with sensual pleasures. When faults and merits are mixed,
