Those with intelligence, If the warmth of action is insufficient, Look at the traces of what has been done. When a great fire spreads in the forest, Even a strong wind becomes a friend. For those who are supremely intelligent, Even harm turns into benefit. The burden of ignorance is heavy, Even for the skilled, most tasks are difficult, Like poison in a peacock's body, The skillful are harmed by enemies. To conquer in battle is to be brave, But killing a wife is not bravery. One must conquer the state of distress, What is the point of showing off to one's retinue? Horses, elephants, and people, Seemingly alike in their respective categories, Have great differences in their inner qualities. When applied to tasks, one recognizes the individual. The grace of servants and kings, The wages of prostitutes and praise, The fare for boats and shares of land, If delayed, will not be obtained; take them in time. Relying on virtuous people and learning knowledge, Practicing crafts and accumulating wealth, Accomplishing deities and meditating on samadhi, Do not be impatient; strive gradually. On the handle of a sharp and fierce weapon, Raising the red banner of power, The victory banner that completely triumphs over enemies, Always resides in the hands of the wise and brave. Peaceful and gentle, but unbearable when angry, To rely on is to conquer, to fight is to be defeated, To submit is to be embraced, to compete is to be destroyed, A supreme person, possessing many wonders. With extremely far-reaching vision, Having crossed to the other shore of the ocean of qualities, Those who have reached ever higher positions, Even consider the realm of Brahma to be insignificant. Their fame is so vast, That it seems to want to tear the sky apart, Seeing that the constellations moving in the path of immortality, Tremble in fear, The clusters of tender flowers, Resting in the embrace of Mother Earth, Open their eyes, As if showing off the rows of new stamens, Are they laughing together, or not? Those who plot to deceive, Are known by merely hearing their words, Even if the deceitful ones obscure with deceit, They do not perceive it; this is the power of the wise. Those who are greedy and dried up by wealth, Are deceived by wealth, and although bound, They do not know it; repaying kindness is the power of the wise. Those who inflict harm with hateful thoughts, Their harm is turned back upon the harmer.

Also the same. Thinking that it was caused by one's own fault, taming is the magic of the wise. For the arrogant, with the weapon of arrogance, launching an attack from within, able to destroy the mountain of arrogance, this is the greatness of the best among the wise. For the jealous, with the object of jealousy, increasing the power of one's own merits, defeating others without fighting, conquering with skillful methods, this is power. Whatever one should do, one must thoroughly complete it, gaining victory from the opposing side, making those on one's own side feel comfortable. One who possesses skillful methods like this, like a Chakravartin and the sun, without friends in this world, alone conquers this land. If one wishes, one can seize the throne for oneself, if one does not wish, even if one obtains the throne, one will abandon it. Not relying on others, becoming the best among people. Like this, doing it in this way, it is difficult to express in words. The power of merit and the power of wisdom, come from the blessings and glory of the gods. Those unparalleled people, no matter which caste and class they belong to, even if they appear, until the final moment, they will become the embodiment of goodness. From the "Treatise on Ethics, Ornament of Protecting the Earth," the eighteenth chapter, which is a separate discussion on the examination of the principle of gaining victory from all aspects through skillful methods. People with excellent wisdom, are not merely like the play of lightning, only for the sake of the happiness of this life, as the most important. Any child who is not wise, craving momentary happiness, doing sinful deeds, thereby obtaining endless suffering. If one abides in the sacred Dharma, people's ethics will naturally arise. Its perfection, will never decrease, only increase. If one practices people's ethics well, the path to going to the heavenly realm is not far. On the ladder of gods and humans, if one climbs, liberation is at hand. In this time of rare leisure and perfection, if one is not careful, when the messengers of death come, even if one regrets, there is no way to remedy it. Alas! All conditioned phenomena are impermanent, they are of the nature of arising and ceasing. If there is birth, there is death, if there is gathering, there is separation. Whoever is born, from that moment on, like the flowing water on a cliff, the life of beings, even for a moment, does not stay, tending towards death.
