Therefore, it is not good to know the roots of virtue as true with attachment or clinging. In the Mother Sutra, it says: "Rāva, it is difficult even to have tolerance in accordance with those who have concepts with attachment, let alone the unsurpassed and perfectly complete enlightenment." In the Compendium, it says: "Just as it is good to eat food mixed with poison, the Victorious Ones say that attachment to white Dharma is the same." And, "If there is no sign, then it is the dedication to enlightenment. But if there is a sign, then it is not the dedication to enlightenment." Therefore, dedicate in a way that is free from attachment and clinging. In the Ornament of Clear Realization, it says: "That is the aspect of no object, the nature of not being inverted." So it is said. The nature of dedication itself is: the mind that transforms the roots of virtue into enlightenment with desire, and the power of special words combined. In the Array of the Qualities of the Field of Mañjuśrī, it says: "All dharmas are like conditions, they dwell at the peak of desire. Whatever prayer is made, it will be accomplished as it is." So it is said. What is the difference between dedication and aspiration? Most scholars think that they are the same in meaning and different in name. However, the intention of our omniscient Dharma King, Drimé Özer, is: the cause of virtue comes first, and then the accumulation of merit and aspiration is dedication; if there is no cause of virtue first, then aspiration is aspiration. Also, the cause of accomplishment is that in whatever place, by whomever, dedication is made: in the place where the blessed objects of the body, speech, and mind of the Sugata reside, if a person with pure morality makes dedication, then it will be accomplished as desired. It is said: "In front of the stupa with relics, it is accomplished by the mantra of the Sugata." Also, in the Bodhisattvabhumi, when explaining the benefits of pure morality, it says: "As desired, so it is accomplished." So it is said. In the Array of the Qualities of the Field of Mañjuśrī, it also says: "The aspiration of those with morality is accomplished." As it is said, in our place of offering, in front of the special Three Jewels where the glory of blessings is manifest, the pure Sangha with morality is gathered, and the virtues related to the three times of oneself and others

Having gathered all the virtues together, offering them to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions, and praying and dedicating them to all limitless beings, it will surely be accomplished. Furthermore, the witness to accomplishing just as one wishes is, as it says in the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra: "Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, always see without obstruction, before all of them, may I always abide." As it is said, when saying the prayer, the Victorious One and his retinue possess the unobstructed wisdom eye, our excellent thoughts and actions, they will surely know, thus generating joyful faith in the Lama and the Three Jewels, generating great compassion for all sentient beings, the strong desire to dedicate all roots of virtue to unsurpassed Bodhi, that is, with a sincere mind inseparable from the three recognitions, please keep in mind the conducive conditions for dedication. Thus, the words of dedication, sometimes extensive and sometimes brief, are not fixed, one should combine the needs and occasions, flexibly use language, add or subtract words and sentences, and skillfully adapt. When actually dedicating, first dedicate the general collection of virtues of oneself and others, as follows: May all the perfectly enlightened Buddhas of the past, present, and future three times in the limitless and boundless realms of the ten directions, the sons of Bodhisattvas, great Bodhisattvas, and disciples such as Shravakas, the gods, sages, Vidyadharas, etc., who have accomplished the truth, before all the assembled mandala sea of retinues, we patrons, offerers, and related persons led by this certain name, and all sentient beings pervading the sky, please listen. We patrons, offerers, and those who share the same virtues, the same merits, and are connected by pure karma, led by this certain name, represented by the virtues cultivated in this way, all the roots of virtue related to the past, present, and future three times, and the accumulations of merit and wisdom accumulated by all the Buddhas of the three times after generating the mind of Bodhi for three great asamkhyeya kalpas.
