May the fruits of happiness of gods and humans, and the minds of samsaric beings with hopes, be separated and dedicated to the cause of transcendence. It is said thus. Transcendence is the three nirvanas. Among them, the nirvana of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, compared to the Mahayana nirvana, is an inferior nirvana, therefore it should not be dedicated to the realm of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. The Mother Prajna Sutra says: 'Good son, this root of virtue should only be dedicated to the realm of the Buddha, and should not be dedicated to the realm of Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and others.' Therefore, it should be dedicated only to the realm of the all-knowing Buddha. The Samantabhadra's Prayer says: 'I dedicate everything for the sake of enlightenment.' The Sutra of Complete Dedication says: 'These roots of virtue, too, are dedicated to the realm of the Buddha.' By dedicating to the realm of the Buddha, just as when the fruit is abundant, the roots and stems will naturally benefit, all temporary fruits of happiness such as longevity, freedom from illness, and the perfection of lineage and enjoyment will naturally arise. Third, regarding the matter of specific (dedication): If one dedicates only for oneself or a few close relatives, even if one has accumulated great virtuous deeds, it will be wasted by using it for small matters. The Mother Prajna Sutra says: 'It should also be dedicated for all sentient beings, not just for the sake of one's own attainment, because it will fall into the realm of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas.' Therefore, all sentient beings who are as vast as the sky have been our parents countless times, and we should generate great compassion for them, and dedicate it for all sentient beings to attain unsurpassed enlightenment. The Bodhisattvacharyavatara says: 'Body and likewise enjoyments, and the three times, all virtuous things, for the sake of all sentient beings, should be given without stinginess.' And 'Whether directly or indirectly, do not engage in anything other than the benefit of sentient beings, only for the sake of sentient beings, dedicate everything for enlightenment.' Thus, if one dedicates for the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings, even a small virtue will greatly increase, thereby making the amount of merit

Because immeasurable merit will arise, and the merit aimed at immeasurable sentient beings will also arise in the same amount. As it is said in the Ratnavali, "The realm of sentient beings is immeasurable, and the desire to benefit them is also the same." Moreover, all the virtues that are not grasped by the mind of enlightenment are like water trees, each producing its own fruit and then being exhausted. The virtues grasped by the mind of enlightenment are like wish-fulfilling trees, which, even after producing fruit, will not be exhausted, but will grow and expand more and more. As it is said in the Bodhicaryavatara, "Other virtues are like water trees, which, after producing fruit, will be exhausted. The tree of the mind of enlightenment always produces fruit, so it will not be exhausted but will increase." If you do not grasp such a key point, as it is said in the Sutra Ornament, "Because the external conditions are not complete, and the self-effort is not perfect, even if the intention is very pure, it will not become the perfection of morality." Therefore, it will not become the cause of omniscience. If it is dedicated with special skillful means and wisdom, it will also become a dedication with four perfections. As it is said in the same text, "The object is good, the teacher is good, the means are good, and the renunciation, as well as the nature of good application, are said to be true aspirations." It is very important to adjust your mind in this way. Fourth, the method or manner is: In the ultimate truth, all dharmas are without self-nature, so merit is also without attachment in the manner of the three wheels being completely pure. In the conventional truth, all the roots of virtue, by whom it is done, to whom it is done, and how it is done, are dedicated in the manner of appearing like dreams and illusions and without self-nature. As it is said in the Intermediate Mother, "Shariputra, all dharmas are like dreams and illusions, and virtue should also be dedicated in the manner of dreams and illusions." And as it is said in the Sutra Requested by Good Arms, "By whom is the gift given, to whom is the gift given, how is the gift not perceived? By the equality of the gift itself, may Good Arms obtain perfection." Similarly, it is also said in the Sutra Requested by Tree Bark, "As the circle of a mirror is completely pure, in what way is there no self-nature? As the circle of a face appears, Tree Bark should know all dharmas in this way."
