No. Any virtue, no matter when it is done, by whom it is done, or with what kind of object it is done, can be dedicated to oneself. As it is said in the Avatamsaka Sutra: "All the virtues of sentient beings, those that have been done, are being done, and will be done, as well as rejoicing, in such excellent grounds, may all, everything, become excellent." As it is said. If we divide virtue, there are five sets of three. First, from the perspective of the doer, there are three types: the virtue done by oneself, the virtue done by others, and the virtue done by both. Second, from the perspective of the time of doing, there are three types: the virtue that has been accomplished before, the virtue that is being done now, and the virtue that will be done in the future. Third, from the perspective of how to accomplish it, there are three types: the virtue done by the body, the virtue done by speech, and the virtue done by mind. Fourth, from the perspective of the object of merit to be accomplished, there are three types: the virtue arising from generosity, the virtue arising from discipline, and the object of virtue arising from meditation. Fifth, from the perspective of the way of ripening, there are three types: the virtue that is in accordance with the world, the virtue that is in accordance with liberation, and the virtue that is in accordance with omniscience. Thus, all these five sets of three can be included in this present virtue, and among them, the most important is the object of merit arising from generosity. Within this generosity itself, the six perfections are included: generosity, which is giving for the sake of others; discipline, which is giving with a mind of peace and tranquility; patience, which is giving without regard to difficulties and harms; diligence, which is giving with joy and enthusiasm; concentration, which is giving with single-pointed focus on omniscience for the benefit of others; and wisdom, which is giving with the knowledge of the emptiness of the three circles and dedicating it to enlightenment. As it is said in the Queen of Victory Sutra: "How are the six perfections included within generosity?" and so on, extensively explained. Furthermore, in Sanskrit, generosity is called dāna From the word "da" (藏文:དཱ,梵文天城体:दा,梵文罗马拟音:dā,汉语字面意思:给予) is derived daridra (藏文:དཱ་རི་དྲ་,梵文天城体:दरिद्र,梵文罗马拟音:daridra,汉语字面意思:贫穷), which means poverty or lack. From the word "na" (藏文:ནཱ,梵文天城体:ना,梵文罗马拟音:nā,汉语字面意思:无) is derived nāśana (藏文:ནཱཤ་ན་,梵文天城体:नाशन,梵文罗马拟音:nāśana,汉语字面意思:毁灭), which means to eliminate or abandon.

It applies to. Therefore, giving is called abandoning the poverty of the world and beyond. Furthermore, if drawn from the realm of sound, it also applies to the three meanings of death, dharma, and existence. As the Noble Lha said: "Death, dharma, and other existences, the enemy of giving makes them clear. Therefore, the sound of giving is extremely pleasing to the Bodhisattva." As it is said, all dharmas are included in giving. Dividing it, there are three types: Dharma giving, material giving, and fearless protection giving. The essence is without stinginess, the cause is the virtuous mind of giving, the result is the accomplishment of a perfect body and enjoyment, and the function is to take care of oneself and others and to perfect the two accumulations. As it is said in the Ornament of the Sutras: "Giving things away, relying on the mind as the root, perfect body and enjoyment, taking care of and begging for both, that is also without stinginess, giving dharma, fearlessness, and material things, knowing giving in this way, the wise should practice it correctly." As it is said. Here, Material giving is the most important. What is it like? As it is said in the Prophecy Sutra Questioned by the Noble Holder of the World: "What is material giving? It is giving, great giving, and extreme giving. Giving is giving food, clothing, vehicles, and elephants to others. Great giving is giving sons, daughters, and family. Extreme giving is doing difficult things, such as giving heads, eyes, hands, and feet." As it is said. Among them, giving with the three purities of field, intention, and object is perfect giving. From the perspective of the field of the object of giving, it is said in the Engaging in Bodhisattva Deeds: "The field of merit and the field of benefit, more than the field of suffering, generate even greater virtue." As it is said, there are three fields. The field of merit is the Lama and the Three Jewels. Among them, the Lama is the supreme field of merit, as it is said in the Manjushri Wisdom Ornament Sutra: "If a son or daughter of good family with supreme faith reverently serves a spiritual friend, they will obtain as many kalpas as the sands of the Ganges.
