If it is not dedicated, as stated in the Bodhicharyavatara: "The merit accumulated over a thousand eons, such as offerings to the Sugatas and generosity, all virtuous deeds, are destroyed by a single instance of anger." Therefore, generating strong anger towards a special object, or observing other factors that cause the exhaustion of merit, will lead to the depletion of virtue. However, the merit dedicated to Bodhi will never be exhausted and will increase more and more. As stated in the Sutra Requested by Sagaramati: "Sagaramati, for example, if one throws ashes of saliva on the sand, it will quickly dry up. If it is thrown into the great ocean, then as long as the great ocean is exhausted and dried up, the ashes of saliva will not dry up. Sagaramati, similarly, the roots of virtue that have been accumulated, if dedicated with regret, stinginess, inferiority, and wrong views, will be exhausted. If dedicated to the great ocean of wisdom of the Omniscient One, it will not be exhausted and will increase more and more." Moreover, it is also important that the merit will definitely become the cause of Buddhahood. As stated in the Akashagarbha Sutra: "Like many rivers from different directions flowing into the great ocean, their taste becomes one. Similarly, whatever virtuous deeds are done from different directions, those dedicated to Bodhi, their taste will also become one." Therefore, it is very important to increase the accumulated roots of virtue through vast dedication. In this regard, the teacher Thobtsun Drubje said: "The collection of merits that have been made, completely dedicated to sentient beings, whatever the Bhagavan has said, is not found in other treatises." Therefore, this special method of dedication is not known among outsiders such as heretics, and it is a unique characteristic of Buddhists. If such a dedication is not made, then "most are meaningless, some are meaningful, and all are meaningful, it should be known." Therefore, most of the virtuous deeds performed with faith become meaningless. Most of the virtuous deeds done from the first to the seventh bhumi become meaningful. All the virtuous deeds done from the eighth bhumi to the Buddha bhumi become meaningful in every way. As stated in the Four Hundred Verses on the Middle Way: "Bhagavan, your movement..."

Nothing exists without a cause; even breathing, for all sentient beings, arises solely for the sake of benefit. As it is said, therefore, the in and out-breath of the Buddha Bhagavan also transforms solely for the benefit of others, and there is not a single moment that is meaningless. Therefore, in order to make the virtues practiced with aspiration meaningful, it is necessary to completely dedicate them. Regarding the method of mind training for the secret instruction of dedicating to the unsurpassed Bodhi, the venerable Panchen Buddha Shri said: Accumulate the merit of the three excellences, increase it well with vast means, purify it completely with profound wisdom, and seal it with the union dedication. The three excellences mentioned are: 1. The excellent object - the field of merit for giving; 2. The excellent object - the substance of offering; 3. Pure intention - generating the mind of Bodhicitta. 'Increase it well with vast means' means that not emphasizing the object but emphasizing the intention, just as the intention is vast, the merit will also increase greatly. Therefore, the object of accumulating merit is all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas pervading the sky, the accumulators are all sentient beings, self and others, and the method of accumulating is to precede with the seven-branch offering and dedicate it for the sake of benefiting others' unsurpassed Bodhi, which will greatly increase it. 'Purify it completely with profound wisdom' means that ultimately all dharmas are without self-nature, therefore merit is also unattainable in the manner of the three wheels being empty, but in conventional terms, one should know that it appears like a dream, illusion, or bubble, and is without self-nature, and practice virtue through this method. In this way or form, seal it with the union dedication. Another way is that what is to be dedicated is the root of virtue, the object to which it is dedicated is the
